Forums - General - Why I think abortion is wrong...

it is not for you or me to decide wether or not a pregnant woman has her child or not, its her body and its her choice

Hey! Something we agree on.

I suggest the book Freakonomics to explain why abortion is a VERY postive thing in society. To paraphrase, it eliminates some of the situations where unfit mothers cannot care for their kids, which is a good thing. With less unfit parents, there's less crime, less poverty, etc.

It's all a domino effect

It's still a potential life, which should not be killed.

Of course it's human before it's born. It has a working heart, and a working brain.
And you should at least skim the article if you're talking about rape or accidental pregnencies

I'll help you out, PS360. Here is what h says about rape:

"I don’t believe that we need to argue here for a ban on abortions in the first 3 cases. In other words, while I think I can defend
a ban on abortion for the Rape and Incest, I am content to grant those exceptions to you especially since they are only 1% of
the 1.3M abortions done a year. Why do I say that? Because I believe the Rape and Incest are emotional issues and if we can
save the 1.28M lives that will be a good start."

So this morally superior author believes that even rape babies shouldn't be aborted, but he is willing to compromise on rape, incest and in case birth would put the life of the mother at risk. If he belives to abortion is murder, then how can he moraly compromise?

These are the "first 3 cases" he references:

"Before we start discussing abortion, I want to defuse 4 of the Pro-Choice issues. These issues are:
    1. Rape
    2. Incest
    3. Life of Mother
    4. Contraception"

so the articles author is a hippocrite

Read a few paragraphs at random in the article (im tired) and he commited a few argumentation fallacies:
- Slippery slope
- disanalogy
- straw man

Imo abortion is often played down in younger communities and is not seen as the serious procedure that it is, but I still think that in many sittuations it is the right choice to make.

oh and btw RCT "teenage sex" has a lot to do with the issues raised by abortion : )

@ RCT

ever met someone whos been raped?

I don't think abortion is wrong, but I do think abortion laws, at least in America, are wrong. As a man, I think it's a tragedy that I have no say in the matter, even if I do want a child. Before anyone asks, yes this did happen to me, and yes she paid for it.

Well it depends of what the person whats you can't force someone to keep a baby if they don't want it.
