Forums - Nintendo - Will They Ever Re-Make Pokemon Silver and Gold?

I would love gold / silver remake

See, I don't think it will ever happen because one of two things will happen since all of these games are so similar:

  1. It will be a pure remake with Diamon/Pearl graphics.  It won't get any new features such as online so it will automatically just fail because it's so similar to D/P but it missing so many key features.
  2. It will get a graphical upgrade and get online features to D/P.  It will get pluses for having that online but it will still be missing things like dual battles and items.  Again, it will just be so bad compared to the other game.

With remakes on things like Final Fantasy at least those games have story to fall back on, Pokemon only has Pokemon with different names, a main character with a different name, and a villain with a different name to fall back on.  Everything else (even the story) is exactly the same.

Well then why did they remake Red, and Green/Blue? Also why couldn't they add the new pokemon, and areas like they did in Fire Red and Leaf Green. I can't remember too well, but weren't there also dual battles in fire red and leaf green?

You guys think so? Sinnoh and all its content was roughly 32-64MB (?), so get that times 4 (for each area, gyms, and extra content) would end up with roughly 130-270 MBs. Now im no DS expert, but is that even possible? As for useing 2 DS cards, it wouldnt work with a non-linear game like PKMN. All the stats and PKMN from card 1 would be lost in card 2 (since the DS has little on-board storage.

Yeah, if they remade G/S, it'd be likely 100% like D/P in gameplay, and they'd probably include online.

I'd be totally stoked for it, especially if they reworked the Kanto region to be better balanced and be a larger section of the game. I'd trained so much that, by the time I got to Kanto, I tore through every single gym without a single PKMN fainting.

I absolutely loved G/S though, with how huge it was. They really need to bring that back.

Well there are 256MB and 512MB(not yet, but being made) carts. So its quite possible.

They did the same thing last gen on the GBA, they came out with a new set R/S/E then they redid the original. I hope they do redo G/S it would be awesome and I would buy it along with Platinum. But what I think would be really awesome is if they came out with a game for the DS (or hell they Wii would be even better) with the Hoenn, Johto, Kanto (and whatever D/P are set in) and all the Pokemon in it. With higher levels to be attained (probably up to atlease 200 with ~32 gym leaders to fight) and maybe even the Islands and other special regions from the show. Could be an epid 3D RPG on the Wii or the best handheld pokemon ever.

That will be the best game EVER!!!

They won't because in fr/lg you could get the pokemon of g/s/c and in emerald you can get the johto starters by completing the national pokedex(if I am not wrong or complete something in the pokedex but still you could get them). They made fr and lg because the gameboy advance had no backwards compatibility with the gameboy color so nintendo had to do something in order for players to get all pokemon at that time.So they remaked red/blue into fr/lf and there you could get all pokemon from both kanto and johto and trade them with sapphire and ruby,so you could get all pokemon(on that time). If nintendo would have wanted to remake g/s/c then they would not have created pal park were you can import your pokemon from the gameboy advance games to d/p.So in conclusion it would be unnecessary to make a remake of g/s/c still they are my favorite pokemon games in the whole series.

I'd love a gold/silver remake. FireRed and LeafGreen were very good. So if remade gold/silver like that I think it'd be great. Hopefully one day they will remake them.

That sounds pretty complicated. So you trade your Fire Red and Leaf Green pokemon, to your Emerald, then use Pal Park to get them in Diamond and Pearl. All though it may have started out as a fix to get all pokemon, after those games selling almost as much as the Main Series pokemon, I think Nintendo will remake more games, just to have more money on top of the money they already have.

Pokemon gold and siver were the worst pokemon games... they remade th eoriginal because they rocked!
