Forums - Sales - 360 20gig seems to be selling fast... PS3 starting to come back to stock?

Just a bit of anecdotal evidence... I have been in and out of Frys over the last week as I've been building a couple of computers.  About a week ago and they had a pallet of 20 gig Xbox premiums right next to a pallet of 60 gigs.  On the pallet of 20 gigs, there were some arcades and elites but the majority of the pile were 20 giggers.  Some were bundles @ $319 with a couple of games and some were the standard $299 pro with no extras.

As of last night they were all gone...  The 60 gig stack was combined with the arcades and elites but ALL 20 gigs were gone.  I was actually quite surprised to say the least.

As a side note, they had a small pile of PS3s -- about 4 40 gigs and about 4 80 gigs but no MGS4 bundles.  This pile was new as they didn't have stock of either last week which kind of surprised me.

Again, this is just anecdotal at my store but sort of goes along with what VGC has been reporting... 360 selling well (20 gig pricecut) and PS3s are a bit harder to come by.

It always funny when people visit their 'local store' or go on amazon or friggin ebay and say 'it was sold out! expect huge sales!'

One store does not equal an entire country

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Hey, Colonel, do you understand the term "Anecdotal"? Yeah, I didnt' think so, given your post. Let me offer you a definition of the term:

an·ec·do·tal Spelled Pronunciation[an-ik-doht-l, an-ik-doht-l]
–adjective

3. based on personal observation, case study reports, or random investigations rather than systematic scientific evaluation: anecdotal evidence.

I said anecdotal not once, but twice... I repeated it just for comments like yours.  And I would like to add that Fry's is an enormous retailer.  They don't get one or two units in.  They get pallets.  If I was going to use one store as anecdotal evidence (there it is again!), Frys is certainly one I would use.

In my opinion, anecdotal evidence is a waste of time. It proves nothing.

That's certainly understandable if it is a single point of data. If a significant number of "Anecdotal Evidence" reports have similar patterns, it is no longer anecdotal but statistics. Kind of what NPD does. One anecdotal report = one anecdotal report. Many anecdotal reports = evidence.

Thank you for the post, I am always interested to see how local retailers in different communities current stock is doing. I was stationed in San Diego for 3 1/2 years and know that Frys is a fairly large retailer for gaming hardware (I miss Frys).

Dont let negative comments get ya down, I appreciate the info. How goes the (2) computers you built? Were you doing it for the store, or for yourself? Stats please.....so I can geek out about them.

I was building up a computer for my son to use as a PC for his adaptive software. I put more memory, a bigger, faster hard drive, and a video card that does DVI-D out at 1080P so I could use it as a HTPC as well. The second build up was more of an "accessorization" for a laptop. I picked up some speakers, Gyration Gyro Mouse and Wireless Mini Keyboard, and an external USB 2.0 drive to use it as a portable presentation device to use with my Sharp DLP Projector.
