1. Microsoft didn't hire him to make games
2. He was fired because he was fucntioning like a mole
3. He's bitter
4. He's become so numb.

I'm sure it's one of those.

The silly demo at E3 didn't sell me either BUT:
1. I thought Nintendo was DOA this generation...and I was wrong
2. I didn't think anyone would buy something with a silly name like Wii ...
I was wrong again
3. I figured Sony would be first and Nintendo last ... wrong again
4. I thought motion control was a silly gimmick ... now I can't believe I ever played any other way
5. I thought that after thirty years I was through with games because they just weren't fun anymore ... but now I'm enjoying gaming like never before
6. I didn't think Wii Fit would ever catch on ... now I have to chase every kid in the neighborhood away so I can use it everyday
7. Wii Music looks like a flop to me ...

Why do I think that Mayimoto will prove me wrong again?

Like any fitness tool you can be sure that there's a high % of people who bought it and then never used it much due to laziness.

But 60% ... no freaking way. I refuse to believe that 60% of people who bought Wii Fit are stupid enough to buy something they aren't using at all.

Here's why this percent is impossible:

If you spend $100-200 on this game but then you realize that you won't play it for a reason or another what you gonna do ? Throw it in the closet ? HELL NO ! You're going to sell it on eBay / Amazon overpriced !

Wii Fit costs on eBay / Amazon with about 30% more than in shops so it doesn't look like there are many people willing to give their copy away. Not more than the people willing to buy it overpriced anyway.

I really hope so…

and @FaithRaven I think this guy is really angry that the Wii crushed the 360 so fast

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Could you guys imagine Wii's software sales if these so called 60% started buying games?

I hope he doesn't imply Europeans are lazy asses that can't even work out.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Its true tho - do you buy a light gun for the game it comes bundles with and not use it for anything else? Would you use your Wii Zapper for Links Crossbow training only, but not for Umbrella Chronicles?

The games coming out that use the WiiBB will give it more use and functionality beyond what WiiFit offered. Several of those games just have not made it to market yet.

i slightly agree with him just because i hate wii-fit

Haha stupid dog

I agree with him.

The difference between someone who plays games and someone who doesn't is enjoyment.  If people buying WiiFit are playing it once and tossing it to the wayside, it means they're not enjoying it as much as they likely could/should.

The worst part is that many of these "non-gamers" aren't going to give games a second chance.  If they don't buy in now, they're never going to buy in.  They're going to hear people talk about video games and think about that "over priced WiiFit POS" they tossed in a closet after the first week.  At that point they're done with gaming.

In fact, the more people Nintendo turns off to gaming, the more they're actually damaging the industry themselves.  Nintendo got their quick buck, the consumers got something they won't like/use shortly after buying it, and the rest of the industry gets hosed.
