and why are there two different versions of the game? all thats different is the controls.... or am I wrong

no clue. I'm thinking the Wii version is watered down and made more casual though.

Like Nintendo's own games, The Wii version of Madden 09 is made for EVERYONE. It has a more relaxed, easier to approach side for the new gamers and tons of the old Madden goodness for people that want that. If this is watered down and casual then so are Nintendo's own games.
|
Except Nintendo doesn't also release Super Mario Galaxy on the PS3 and 360 with DLC, online multiplayer, multiple difficulty settings and a T raiting.

You can't have it all. EA sees different demographics to hit with the Wii Madden 09. I'm sure we would all agree there are different demographics on the Wii than the 360 and PS3. Like it has been thrown so many times in my own face, you are not the only gamer that matters in regards to the Wii. Nintendo expanded the market and EA is following their lead. It isn't watered down but more accessible.
About your complaints, blame Nintendo for no DLC, online multiplayer is in Madden 09 so stop living under a rock, are you sure about the difficulty settings and who cares if it's T or E? It's football. Here's an excerpt from the IGN review I'm sure you didn't bother to read before making your snap judgements:
On the Wii front, things are taking a bit of a different turn, but not one that's overly bold this reviewer's opinion, or one that's out to alienate anyone from the game of football. Yes, EA has put the new "All-Play" name on its product this year (and more than just Madden), but after putting this year though its respective paces, we're on EA's side on this move. The company has managed to open the game of football to a wider audience with simpler control, easier interface, and an "anyone can play" philosophy that actually does come through, while at the same time making the game entirely customizable and open for the hardcore gamers. If you found it in previous Wii Madden games, you're going to find it here, and you'll most likely find it refined or improved on in some way.
Gosh golly gee that sounds like they understand Nintendo's philosophy. Yet here you are complaining about it.

I thought Nintendo's philosophy was deeper than simply making everything casual. Rather I assumed it was using Casual as a foothold in the market to expand up through the third tier to the second tier to finally first tier third party games.
Nintendo's philosophy is expanding their market so that core and hardcore games can find a home there, not be turned into casual interpretations.
If this works for Madden then fine, but you're going to defend it by saying, "Casual is the way to go" whether that's the case or not for Madden, I'm going to have to take issue with it.

Where did you ever see me mention the word casual?
Also I'll explain exactly how your first paragraph fits Madden 09 perfectly. You get a newer gamer to buy Madden and they enjoy the more accessible features, like 2 on 2 Blitz style football. As they progress, they try the more difficult to comprehend modes that Madden 09 has to offer on the Wii. Eventually they make it to playing regular Madden, making fanchises and doing seasons. That sounds like this three tier hierarchy all in one game. But it's EA and not Nintendo, so it's just "casual" huh?
Your second paragraph was already explained in my previous replies. Madden contains most of the features of the 360 and PS3 versions while adding newer accessible modes those versions are not getting. It is still a "hardcore" game, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. I don't recall anyone on this site referring to Madden as "hardcore" before, but whatever.
In regards to your third paragraph, let me reiterate in annoying caps lock writing, I DID NOT SAY CASUAL. I AM NOT DEFENDING IT AS CASUAL BECAUSE I DON'T BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT MADDEN 09 ALL PLAY IS. I BELIEVE IT IS ACCESSIBLE FOR NEWER GAMERS AND CHALLENGING FOR REGULAR MADDEN PLAYERS. STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH.
For christs sake at least read the damn review Onimusha. You don't seem to know a thing about this version of Madden.
