Forums - Nintendo - Nintndo gives proof of third party Wii sales.

We didn't say Third-party games do not sell on the Wii.

We said GOOD third-party games do not sell on the Wii. Nobody questioned that gaming pearls like Mario&Sonic or Carnival Games were selling like hotcakes.

(I mean of course you could say that there are not many good third-party games on Wii but that's a hen&egg problem)

Haha if 3rd parties would give us some good games then we'd buy them haha.  Until then ya got to take what you can get.

And if we do get good games the devs don't market them as good games.  So it's really a lose lose situatino when it comes to that.

Wii never get good support of 3 parties very sad :[

so sales will decrease because people want good games no shovelwares

Please ,not saying it isnt true ...but this is a PR graph with no raw data behind.

And ,for all we know ,it could be just the massive amount of cheap shovelware whats selling...because when the third party companies give their lowdown by plattform the Wii sure as hell isnt that high.

A) Those figures come from NPD, not Nintendo themselves.

B) Move the goalposts much?

Nice work there.

On topic, anyone's who's been paying any attention already knew this, and I'm pretty sure that includes most third parties, which is why their support for the system is starting to really ramp up. Third parties already know their games sell on the Wii (even the crappy ones, but especially the quality titles),  and we're seeing the first (moderate) result of that this winter. Mind you, it doesn't hurt that Nintendo continues to broadcast this, as some folks haven't yet gotten the message (id Software...).

And a lot of us are fairly sure Nintendo is holding back for the next six months just to make sure developers have no competition from Nintendo, and therefore no excuse.

That or they really ran out of ideas like they said.

Wow, diomedes trolled. Kyros, lied. This thread would've been perfect if not for them 2.

Ot: I was very surprised. I already knew the Wii would've beaten the Ps3 by a good amount, but to be near the beast that is 360? That surprised me!

Diomedes, did you know that vgchartz undertracked the Ps3 in America and Europe? Go check it out!

They didn't. They pointed out most of their big games are in development, but won't be announced until ready.

If they ran out of ideas, that would mean they lost all inspiration. Nintendo has plenty of ideas, just like a lot of developers. It's just implementing them that makes games take a while.

“So where does the perception that third-party games don't sell on Wii come from? Most likely it stems from the respective sales ratios for the three consoles. While third-party software sales comprise well over 80 percent of total game sales on both the Xbox 360 and PS3, on the Wii that number dips all the way down to 56 percent. On the whole, however, because total Wii software sales are so high, even 50-something percent of a huge chunk yields a larger total for third-party sales. But there's still no doubt that Nintendo's incredible first-party success leaves a smaller part of the Wii software market for third parties to fight over. The key, however, as Nintendo has said, is to expand that market so all can benefit. So far, so good."

Good point.

Now 3d parties, move your damn @$$!!!!!

Third Party Developers don't want the Wii to win so don't expect to see anymore third party support than we are now.
