I didn't, those people that do pirate can burn in hell for all I care (though I don't mind reformed pirates since they at least learned their lesson and don't do it anymore). -edit- Just curious, you make it sound like you pirated games back in the NES days, did you? I wasn't even aware you really could back then. As for pirating NES games now, I should clear things up and say I don't have a problem with people pirating and emulating abandonware games that you just can't buy anymore. Now as they become available through things like the VC I expect you to buy them, but until then I don't have a huge problem with it.

Here in SA, we got the NES much later than the USA, UK etc. I never used to by actual Nintendo cartridges. I bought cheap copied cartridges (without the original covers) from dodgy establishments for like a tenth of the price. I later discovered that most of it came in from Korea. Sorry Nintendo.
Buy at least half those pirated games and I'll forgive you.. I hope you've learned that customers suffer because of what you've done.
Pixel Art can be fun.
Pirates are waaayyy better than ninjas.
The only people I want to burn in hell are those who try to force their own morals and ethics on others.

Why thank you, SmokedHostage.
Thing is, it was actually damn hard to stop initially. It really was a habitual thing, especially on the PC. It is super easy to get DVD images etc from friends. Probably sounds ridiculous, but when you have done things the same way for 15+ years, a change doesn't come easy.
A lot of third world countries sell bootlegs of media. I've walked into malls and seen stores selling them. It's a fact of life and it becomes accepted if you live in that kind of community. People who live in deprived places probably can't even tell a difference in the two.
I haven't pirated games in quite a while... but I'll confess. I recently downloaded the Watchmen graphic novel to read it... it was awesome and now Ill go see the movie.

You're right, you're only taking money away from the people who put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the game to bring you the very game you're stealing. But I'm sure you think they all lead rockstar lives, right?
Why do you think you're special enough to get the game for free why everyone pays? Why do you think you're special enough to steal the game and take away from the people who brought it to you?
Just curious, what lame excuse do you use to justify being a thief? Actually, it really doesn't matter since each one is as bullshit as the next. In the end you only do it because you're too cheap to actually pay for it and you're just being a selfish jerk.
of the list of sins (against humanity, this isn't about religion) pirating videogames falls pretty damn low on the list.
I'm not saying it should be done, but I'm hardly going to give a crap about those that do.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
I pirated 95% of my PS1 games, 100% of my PS2 and now 100% of my 360 games. To me it is as simple as if I don´t buy pirated games I won´t buy real ones, so no company is losing real money because of me. Games here are so expensive it is impossible for 95% of the people in my country to buy.
However, since now I´m older and will start working soon I will buy a PS3 (when I visit USA in January, I hope) and buy only real games. That way I´ll start contributing to this obsession of mine and I´ll be able to experience something that I never could - online (demos, playing online, PSN games etc.)
P.S. - Also, a really big reason that contributed to my pirating was that up until the SNES era I had places near my house that I could rent games (real ones). BUt, came the PS1 era all those closed down, so I felt (already hooked on my gaming drug and not wanting to go cold turkey) that piracy was my only way out.
The great thing is that nowadays with internet, I am better informed and found that there is a place that ´s not really far from my house that I cant rent PS3 games. So that will help me play PS3 games without piracy because those games are really expensive.
