I wasn't even aware you really could back then. As for pirating NES games now, I should clear things up and say I don't have a problem with people pirating and emulating abandonware games that you just can't buy anymore. Now as they become available through things like the VC I expect you to buy them, but until then I don't have a huge problem with it.

Here in SA, we got the NES much later than the USA, UK etc. I never used to by actual Nintendo cartridges. I bought cheap copied cartridges (without the original covers) from dodgy establishments for like a tenth of the price. I later discovered that most of it came in from Korea. Sorry Nintendo.
