It may or not be a system seller. The mains problems that this game might have is that :
1. You have no idea what this game is about if you didn't heard about it before
2. Even for those that know, there is a confusion as to what is the real goal of the game
3. That game isn't interesting without online
4. The main demographic of the console isn't necessarily in this kind of games.
5. The sackboys are brilliant

If they want the game to be a success, they need to do a lot of marketing. Ads that explain what the game is about could make up for 1,2 and 4.

other than that i agree with the post. If they could show advertisments explaining the concept idea+ just some cool trailers. I think the game would sell really well. With good reviews and stuff the game will also have long legs.

Sackboys could cause alot of sales to children imo

Well, it's only my opinion. Anyway, I find clowns creepy as well, so it may just be me being abnormal ;). The fact that you can customized them the way you want is great though.

I think we all agree that they have a great product in their hands but they need to advertise it properly for it to succeed.

Edit: I think I know why I find them creepy. They remind me of voodoo dolls!

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Its a kiddy platformer at heart...

I have a gut feeling the gameplay may well wind up being a bit one dimensional.

The user generated content is interesting but at the end of the day how many variations on get from point A to point B whilst jumping about can there be.

I dont think this will be a bad game but I also fail to see it being stellar.

I wait to be proved right or wrong.

Either way I do concede the graphics look gorgeous.

Yup it will sell billions of ps3s...lol

this game has loads of appeal.if advertised correctly and it receives good reviews.it WILL be a system seller and sell alot of copies.

It sold at least one system: to me.

I dought it well do good for a harware seller but I think it'll do pretty good for a software seller

It may be a fantastic game, but there may be a learning curve to the game as some early previewers have suggested. While that may be good for the hardcore audience, it might be a turnoff for casual users. So I'm not sure how this will expand the PS3 audience if that's the case.

I can see this game becoming a new icon of gaming, really, I can. My only question is this:

Has sony's lack of advertising just been a method to stockpile money for a 4th quarter media blitz? LBP / R2 / MS2 / KZ2 , MARKET THESE HARD

PSN: TheGodofWine (Warhawk / R2 / MotorStorm PR)

AND

PSN: Skigazzi (for KZ2 and future games)

If this game can appeal to everyone, you'd bet it would be a hardware seller. Hello?! look at Wii's games, they appeal to everyone.. young, old, girls and they are doing well aren't they? I agree, it will sell more consoles. I just hope they throw in a bundle pack with a real sackboy, it will sell even more. I will literally go buy one myself haha.

I'm not comparing LBP to Wii Sports or anything but all five of those could easily apply to Wii Sports. ;)

Yes, Mii's without arms and legs is rather creepy.  :P
