How can the ps3 be 4.5m behind the 360 when the last data we had from there reports showed the ps3 almost 6m behind. There is no way there are that many more 360 sitting on shlefs than ps3 lol.
| papflesje said: Whether or not the topic starter is correct or not (and whether or not it's about deflated PS3 sales, inflated Xbox sales or whatever else is under-overtracked...): Whenever one questions certain sales, it's always "fanboy!" or "VGC rules" or something. How about a sensible talk about how VGC actually gets its data, in order to improve it or to comment on it, so that they may get even better results and such? No, it's always "attack the one challenging VGC". |

I realise why you're not posting the data you claim adds up to 19.5m. Deducting NPD (11.3m) & Media Create (0.6m), would leave Chart-Track & GfK figures at 7.6m. This is just too high to be possible. Truth is it's just not possible to come up with a figure of 19.5m by adding up Media Create, NPD, Chart-Track, and GfK figures. The difference can be explained by sales occuring in many countries not covered by the trackers you claim to have access to.

Can you say "vague"?

Actual numbers are probably a little higher for the various smaller countries that aren't tracked by the major companies. I don't think 20.15 million is even possible for the 360 given the latest worldwide shipment figures from Microsoft's most recent quartely report, a reasonable estimate of how many 360s Microsoft has been shipping each month in 2008, and the number of 360s sitting on store shelves unsold worldwide. For 20.15 million to be even possible Microsoft would have to made a dramatic increase in shipments relative to the previous six months of 2008 and/or less than Wii levels of stock sitting on the shelves worldwide. There seems to be a fairly large number of mystery sales being reported for the 360 in the Others category along with a somewhat inflated North America life to date sales that come out to some 500-600 thousand extra 360 sales that have no data to back them up with.

Does NPD/Chart-Track/GTK and Media Create cover....
South Korea
Taiwan
South Africa
Mexico
South America
Hong Kong
? Those are 6 areas that most tracking firms do not cover. Did you add numbers for those in, anywhere? I'd like to see your numbers that you are using, and discuss them before you go around saying it's overtracked. Provide evidence against it with your legitimate NPD/GTK/MC/CT numbers first, please.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
IS there any number, how much M$ shipped per region?
Like NA, Europe, Japan. I`ve seen some numbers for Wii, what about x360?
Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...
2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

With this list, there are a few notes:
1) Unknown countries make up 6.08% of the total User Distribution on Live.
2) If Austrailia, New Zealand and Mexico fall under another service (which I'm going to assume that Austrailia and NZ do), that still gives us about 2.9% left that is un-accounted for.
3) 2.9% of the 19.5m figure you quote is 565,500 Xbox 360's. A very large portion of the discrepancy you herald as being off. If you have numbers for the mystery countries, please share them.
