It seems everyone agrees that this would be ridiculous if true.

For the moment this game is vaporware, and it has basically been canceled. The parties involved just want to find someone to buy it out of their hands, and probably at a reasonable loss. In other words the publisher felt the game had epic fail written all over it, and they do not want to throw good money after bad. They have accepted it was a misadventure, but would be more then happy to make back some of what they spent in development costs.
That said this rumor actually has a high probability of coming to pass. For no other reason then the fact that Sony Pictures does not want to see the license tarnished, and their contract probably guaranteed them a certain percentage of sales. So it has a certain symmetry when you realize that if they get desperate they will ask a favor of the gaming division to bail them out. The same way they bailed the gaming division out on a number of occasions. Remember those free movie pack ins, exclusive game development, and other free content in the pipe.
Basically if nobody else bites Sony Pictures is going to play the you owe me one card, and they will get the gaming division to bail the project out. Not that it is necessarily a black hole for them. They will not be paying for full development costs in this case. They will be paying for a portion of that. Think of it as buying a used car that has depreciated through neglect.
Ghostbusters >>>> FFXIII FACT
And for those slagging on movie licensed games, yea most of them suck but Spiderman 2 was amazing so there's potential. The problem is usually that the filmmakers won't give the devs enough leeway to drift from the movie so until it's completely done they can't do much work on it and then they have to try to rush it out alongside the movie release date.

actually if it has been cancelled then what you said makes sense.if so, i m betting it will be playstation exlusive ,,not PS3.meaning PSP,PS2,PS3.
A whole article, then 'word on the street is...'
Wrong.
who u gonna call?....nope not Ghostbusters, they need a publisher :-)
Bull. We've all kown that there have been other versions of the games being developed since day 1. Sony would have to pay a huge assload in order to outweigh the development losses.
well you would think Ghostbusters would fit on the Wii; like some next gen version of Luigi's Mansion
