To the untrained eye, they seem similar...

To me, the only thing similar there is the flames coming out of that flamethrower. A lot of COD4's game sales came from people wanting to play it online and the Wii version of COD5 will be seriously gimped in that respect.

i can see a really big diff with theses screens.  the only thing that is the same is the flames, but the devs doing this game are crap so i am not expecting to see any graphival splender, this game is going to be a step back from COD 4

It will sell tens of thousands of consoles imo

Will the conduit be a system seller?

Sigh. Its a very, VERY generic shooter with comparably good graphics from a developer with a spotty track record. It may sell well but its no system seller.

IF.. big IF the Conduit is Fun, has good graphics, the controls are tight(and they seem to be) and it gets the marketing it deserves, then it will sell very well (maybe a million+)

right now for the Conduit we have

1) 1 player mission mode-
2) AT LEAST 16 player online- might get to 32,, might not, we will have at least 16

3) Voice Chat- they have said that wiispeak will be supported

4) extremely untapped market segment for the wii- a Core FPS game.

again IF the game is well done, gets good reviews, has solid frames per second(they are trying to up it to 60fps, right now -except for a few spots- they are a solid 30fps).

then the Conduit Could be the best selling - so far- fps for the Wii-if it gets the proper Marketing

remember they do have another ~7-8 Months to work on the game before it goes gold- in 8 months A Lot can change for the better- or Worse.

CoD5 may sell around 300k since its also been release on PC, and both HD consoles with better visuals and online. As for Conduit I think it may struggle to do 150k since there is almost no advertising and maybe people don't even know it existed.

1. COD3 sold 370k and that was a system launch title AND the game also apeared on the HD consoles and PC.  COD5 has a massive increase in install base to appeal to and the hype that COD4 created.  It will seel much better than 300k.

2. Uh, advertising for The Conduit?  It's not coming out next week, geez.  They haven't even settled on a publisher yet.

I was about to say the same the same thing.  Excepting huge releases (Halo 3, Madden, GTAIV) real advertising usually isnt seen until shortly after a title is out.

OT:  Conduit will go Platinum if it gets picked up by a mega publisher like EA or Activision Blizzard or Nintendo and they subsequetly market it well.  Otherwise i bet it will sell somewhere around 700k, depending on the final product (I've said it before but i think that adding local multiplayer--among the other features--will really help the sales of this game).

CoD: WaW will sell 750k-1.5million imo, depending on the marketing push for the wii version and its controls.

Both will be million sellers. CoD:WaW Wii will outsell all versions except the 360 one.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Actuall RE:UC is an on rails shooter, RE4 would be an Action-Adventure, but this one is more heavily shooter focused so a TPS, and Metroid PRime 3 is an ACtion adventure or First Person Action-Adventure.
