Forums - Nintendo - Could Rockstar really be working on GTA Wii? TT Building assets for Wii...

@Leetgeek: Ehh... What did that have to do with the subject? Rumours about a game that didn't come to GC?

I don't think GTA will come to Wii or we would have heard something/anything by now.

Wow, what a brilliantly written argument .

That makes no sense at all. Does that mean that any game we haven't heard anything about can't be coming to the Wii ever? I guess after all the announced games are released, there will NEVER be anything else released for the system, it hasn't been announced yet, so it can't possibly ever exist.

Or maybe it's possible that they're toying with the idea, doing market research, developing in-house demos, etc, and don't have a final game concept in place. Maybe because they are still working on getting the technology & engine worked out, they don't have enough info to officially annouce it. You can't deny any possibility just because it hasn't been announced. It would make perfect sense for them to bring a GTA game to the system with the largest userbase.

You are correct that is why it's comming to DS.

Timmah!!

That still doesn't mean it won't come to the Wii.

@perpride: The moment GTA comes out on Wii, it's userbase is bigger than PS3:s and 360:s combined. Not to mention the moment when GTA4 came out on PS360. So if Wii has more than 50% marketshare, there will be potential customers, even if every PS3 and 360 owner would have a Wii and they wouldn't buy GTA for Wii because they have it on PS3 or 360.

@Leetgeek: "We would have heard something" is pretty bad excuse. I made a pretty good reason in my previous post about why would they want to keep it quiet. Oh, and let's add another point: the buyout threat from EA is over only "for now" and in order to keep buyout away, they need to plan their releases/finances. When EA bids the next time, they can announce GTA for Wii and the stock goes up again.

I hear ya. Do you hear me?

Etc...

You really can't compare Wii to GC. They are in totally different positions in respect to marketshare. None of the factors that prevented it from coming to GC are in place with the Wii. Very bad argument, sorry.

Grand theft Auto: California

With in line skating mini games with balance board support, waggle controls, crappy graphics(engine of previous GTA on ps2),crappy senario about guys trying to pass "grass" to "far out" hippies since the game will take place in the seventies.(all the above statements are fictional and humorus)

More shovelware confirmed from Take-2.

The real questions is does wii really needs a GTA title?

Around the Network

@Akira: No, Wii doesn't need a GTA title, but who the fuck would be so stupid to say "no" for last gens most popular franchise. Besides, it's more a matter of GTA needing Wii than the opposite.

I take you're not an GTA fan either? The first was great (i'd like to see it in WiiWare someday), but the sequels have been more or less crap.

I already have GTA on Wii.

It's called Godfather, and EA's making a new one for '09 which looks like it might have some intriguing gameplay innovations.

They are? Link? It's not that I don't believe, you, but I like to have proof.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

What would GTA benefit from being on Wii? I'm curious.

What could the Wiimote do to a game like GTA that would make up for the worse physics?

They just put up some details on gonintendo. It isn't confirmed for Wii yet, so I might be setting myself up for disappointment, but this is EA we're talking about. The Wii version might just come out a few months after the 360 one.

@ iFlower

I don't remember physics playing a major role in GTA's gameplay before, but I do remember combat controls sucking severely on the PS2 games. Godfather's combat controls were amazing, and made melee and firearms very satisfying.

Was there anything that GTA IV's physics enabled you to do which couldn't be done on previous GTAs?
