I don't unerstand french and this news is in  that language so could someone translate the article ?

Seems based on generated profits ( ? maybe they mean revenue ) 

 Top 10 France : les jeux ayant rapporté le plus de profits
GFK et le journal L'Express publie le top des 10 des jeux ayant généré le plus de profits en France pour la période de janvier à mai 2008 (en millions d'euros). Un top évidemment dominé par les titres tournant sur consolesNintendo (huit dont deux pondus par Sega). Voici donc :

1 - Wii Fit - Wii - Nintendo - 25,1 millions
2 - Mario Kart Wii - Wii - Nintendo - 22,3 millions 
3 - Grand Theft Auto IV - PS3 - Rockstar Games - 21,5 millions
4 - Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox 360 - Rockstar Games - 15,1 millions
5 - Wii Play - Wii - Nintendo - 11,5 million
6 - Super Mario Galaxy - Wii - Nintendo - 8,2 millions
7 - Mario & Sonic aux Jeux Olympiques - NDS - Sega - 7,2 millions
8 - New Super Mario Bros. - NDS - Nintendo - 6,8 millions

The original article on the newspaper l'Express's website (in French) : Nintendo's ressurection

A pretty bad article (not worth a translation), except for the top 10, on page 2.

(top of the 10 most sold games in France between January and May 2008 - in million euros- ).

I think it is revenue. Well, I don't know how GFK would be able to determine profit anyway.

If it is revenue, and since Wii-fit is selling for ~90 euros, we can deduce that it has done around 279k in France (from January to May 2008).

I assume this means:

1st - MKWii sold ~ 450K copies
1st - Wii Play sold ~ 450K copies
3rd - GTA IV Ps3 ~ 400K copies
4th - GTA IV 360 ~ 300K copies
5th - Wii Fit sold ~ 200K copies
6th - SMGalaxy ~ 175K copies
6th - M&S DS sold ~ 175K copies
6th - NSMB sold ~ 175K copies
9th - MKDS sold ~ 140K copies
10th - M&S Wii ~ 110K copies

We have unit sales through the same period for some of these games too.

GTA IV (both versions): 525,000
Mario Kart Wii: 453,000
Wii Fit: 282,000

So assuming both GTA versions were roughly priced the same that would put the split at 58.7% / 41.3% in favour of the PS3 version, or;

GTA IV PS3: 308,000
GTA IV 360: 217,000

There was also a collectors edition for GTA IV which was 90 euro I think, so it might be possible. Also the revenue is more or less perfectly in line for Mario Kart and Wii Fit, so why would GTA IV's numbers be wrong?
