Forums - Nintendo - Are you annoyed multiplat games on Wii have same review as other consoles?

Even I've seen  and read some of the review of Top Spin 3 for the Wii on gaming sites and magazines Im still curious what gametrailers review Top Spin 3 on the Wii. VERY DISAPPOINTED their review are from all the consoles not only on the Wii.

This isnt the only thing gaming sites did this, even IGN do this and not only on one game, Sega Superstar Tennis, Madden series, NBA Live, movie based games and even Alone in the Dark as long as its multiplat.

No wonder EA did the all play thing on their sports games on the Wii, to distinguish their Wii games from other console and saying EA Wii games are different from other consoles.

What next? sonic unleashed, Shaun White snowboarding and Star Force Unleashed have same reviews too as a whole even we know HD consoles are very different from the Wii ones?

Yes its very annoying. They are clearly different versions and should be rated differently.

I hate when PS3 and 360 games are rated the same way and then they have the nerve in the article to start talking about which version is better or has such and such pros or cons. It's just unprofessional.

Yeah, it annoys me a bit that they are denying the benefits of the Wiimote for some games. I'm not saying it's always instantly a good thing, but still...

Supposedly, it's a fad.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Well multiplatform games between the PS3 and 360 are virtually the same...other perhaps some textures here, some contrast there, and a bit different controller, the multiplatform games are made the same, and reviewed with both consoles in mind...they usually mention if one version is significantly different, like GTA4's DLC on 360.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

OK are you saying that you find it frustrating that mutliplatform games are are judged equally along with the Wii version. Well it does seem sorta silly. COnsidering that the Wii gfx are below the HD twins, but the controlls are very different in design. It would be reasonable that the HD and Wii get seperate reviews.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I just perosnally don't agree that it should be mentioned as I think as a reviewer you are supposed to be analyizing every aspect of the game.  And if you review something the same and in the same review it should be combined as one entity and spoken upon as one entity.  And if you want to divulge from that write 2 separate reviews.  I mean I just think that's the mos proffesional because it's fair, unbiased, and ultimately the best for your readers.

Personally I hate any idea of versions of the same game being reviewed in a pack because I think it depicts laziness.

But I know most peopel won't agree with me but it's just my opinion.

Not on the Wii it isnt, unless its a direct port with graphic downgrade like the PS2 but it isnt... Wii games arent equal to HD games they must review it seperately.

I think reviewers are just lazy on their reviews especially multiplat games.

I don't think you can call it lazy when developers purposely make sure multiplatform games on the PS3 and 360 are nearly identical...if they made one version better than the other it'd kill sales.

Reviews never get so detailed that they mention 5 fps difference or a very super minor glitch on one version compared to the other.  If you want separate reviews, they'd probably copy paste it all, save for a couple super minor things.

If it's major enough, like a 360 game having a glitch that the PS3 version doesn't, they probably would mention it in the review, and that's all that matters.  Writing two different reviews for a PS3 then a 360 version is a bit excessive in almost every case.

This begs the question Are metacritic % reviews influenced through Wii only game reviews or multi system reviews of the same title

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
