Forums - Gaming - Looking for a fighter: Burst Limit or Soul Calibur IV?

Pass on both.

Burst Limit for above reasons.

Pass on SCIV because apparently they took out Team mode, Exhibition mode, and Weapon Master mode. Also it seems that a lot of the characters are just clones of other characters.

Save your money and wait for Naruto.

Gah, that doesn't sound good, but I'm also not very patient.  Meh, I guess I've got enough to play for now.  Worst comes to worst I'll start replaying my other games lol.

Was Burst Limit like Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in gameplay? I was about to rent it.......

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

No, no wait for Tekken 6.

i have both.
Both are great. but Soulcaliber is the better option. I like it's fighting style, and i love the character customization. the arcade mode, and tower of lost souls are fun, and online is good. there are more characters than BDZ as well.

DBZ online is below average, and has lag issues.

The only thing that's better about DBZ in my opinion is the story mode. It takes you more in-depth of the storyline of DBZ, but it ends at the Cell Saga. and there are a few characters missing from the ginyu force. And some of the Androids are missing as well.

EDIT: Soulcaliber has more combos, and for the most part, they're harder to do than in DBZ.

DBZ seems to be a little easier to get into based on what i've seen from my friends.

I believe you were just looking for an excuse to hold off on purchase.

Well, here is a good one.

Skip both games. For a fighter to be a worthy purchase, one either/or conditions need to be met.

You either need to have a lot of friends who like to play it around you, or it needs to be the best thing since sliced bread.

If you meet the first condition, then SCIV is just the better game, but I'm willing to bet you're like me.

In which case, neither game meets that condition.

I bought SCIV because of the hype and the breasts.

I admit, I enjoyed the hell out of it for about 48 hours, mastered it, and then due to an immediate decision, I sold it on ebay for 50 dollars.

SC's gameplay has been the same buttonmashing since the Dreamcast. The create your own "booty" mode was great for a couple of days, but then it ceased to be "strange" booty and bacame "same" booty, and therefore, all you're left with is the tower of lost souls mode, which is boring.

It's a damn fine game, IF you have friends to play with, and all you want is Soulcalibur I with a masterbation mode, less single player, MUCH better graphics, and the exact same gameplay. No online mode is gonna change that. Isn't online just a generic bullet point, anyway?

I suggest you save your money for better fare. Have you seem my upcoming game list? Unless you got a couple extra thousand bucks lying around, you're gonna need that 60 bucks for something else.

Then again, you already knew that answer before you asked the question.

If you want something for right now, get FFIV. It's one of the better games to come out this century.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Zenfoldor, he said he wanted to diversify his portfolio and buy a fighting game. Besides, Final Fantasy 4 was one of the better games last century as well, so screw it. And if you really got 48 hours of enjoyment out of it, than it sounds like you made a pretty good purchase.

Soul Calibur 4 hands down.

I'm not complaining about the game. It's excellent. However it is more of the same, and since I no longer have the friends I once had, I'd say that this game is very boring to play alone. I can attest to that. There are no hardcore skills to learn, no uber combos. You basically rely on learning timing. Not "how" to fight, but "when" to fight.

That said, the decision is his own. I got 48 straight hours of fun out of it. That could easily translate to a week or two for most hardcore gamers, and that'll be only playing by myself, with no online, and not full exploring the essentials of the game, like the create your own booty, or tower of doom modes.

So, I probably shouldn't have made the statement for him not to buy it. I should have just said, "Read opinions and decide for yourself." You're absolutely right about that.

My FFIV fanboyism is one part, "It's a great single player game that's new, if your looking for one right now," and one part, "I'm actually playing the game right now. It's paused during a battle as I make this post." lol

The Dragonball fighting games are pretty mediocre in the first place, and I hear Burst Limit continues the trend.

Soul Calibur 4 is, from what I hear, continuing the tradition of its series as well. It's the same button mashing as always, so your latter 2 needs will be fully covered. Plus, Soul Calibur 4 has more people online to play with, and you won't have to play against people using Yoda.

I recommend Soul Calibur 4.

-but he will have to play online against a ton of Mitsurugis and Kiliks.
