Just go rent the game from blockbuster and switch your game with the one you rented, tadaa problem solved. btw does the game still work?

wow,as brilliant as that is.cant blockbuster make you pay for ruining it? obviously, the next person who rents it will probably say something. and theyll probably put the pieces together and itll come back to you.

Thats why I asked if the game still works, if only some level or characters don't load than that can be attributed to normal wear and tear. It happens to almost all rented games eventually and they cant really blame anyone.

I wonder if the 3 year warranty protects the X360 from faulty DVD drives? Disc scratching on X360 games happens regularly and DVD drives break fairly easily.

No. I asked them myself .... but if you don't want to pay for repairs, you could just put the 360 close to an enclosed area with other eletronics that produce alot of heat (PS3) and RROD it "manually". Then maybe they'll send you another 360 instead of the old.

but SC4 just came out a week ago,how much wear and tear could it collect in a week or two? but this is an awesome idea for older games

If your X360 is now three years old and outside the warranty period. Buying a new X360 console would be cheaper than repairing it.

Do the new X360 consoles have improved DVD drives as well as fewer hardware failure rates?

get a PS3 version and save the hassle

There is quite a few places in my area that have machines that fixes scratches. A used cd, dvd, and game place fixes them for .75 a disc. I know your local gamepro will fix them although I think they have to send it somewhere and it costs like 5.00.

It's impossible to fix if it has the ring from the 360.

My Halo3 got the ring because my girlfriend tried to move my 360 while it was running.  We had a CD warehouse nearby that resurfaced it and it looks brand new and works fine.  It's a surface scratch and that's all, it just happens to be a wide scratch near the outer layer where data usually is.  A shop that repairs disks will take it out no problem.

if it has that circular scratch in the middle your screwed.
