Forums - Sony - Phantasy Star on PSP selling out in Japan.

Phantasy Star Portable sells like a Monster in Japan

The funny thing is that it's more or less a port of Phantasy Star Universe.

Another port from the PS2. It used to be a weakness for the PSP, but as this, Monster Hunter, and all those Super Mario Advance games show, it's WHAT is ported, not THAT it's a port.

Not sure if it will help the system sell more in Japan, but it's selling fine anway, and is only 13 million away from 50 million.

It wasnt entirely unexpected... It was a dangerous bet, but it seems that it did better than waht most where expecting :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Awesome stuff :P I'd love to get that game on the PSP, a terrible game on consoles if you ask me, but get this game with all your friends in the same room and your in for some damn good red-box hunting >: )

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

A lot of people seem to assume that because a game is a port, no value is being added. But the obvious truth is that the value added is that the game is now playable on a platform which it previously wasn't playable on. As long as the ported platform is sufficiently distinct from the original platform (from PS2 to the portable PSP, or from the PS2 to the advanced interface of the Wii are good examples), the value can be quite substantial.

Seems like you won 2/3 bets and I'm betting you will win the 3rd what with Sony saying enough of PSP -> PS2 ports.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Yup, probably.

Good thing too, PSP deserves it.

PSP is the new DS in Japan.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I think it was that a lot of the ports didn't add much value even then. Monster Hunter was a game that had a lot of value as a portable. Xmen legends didn't really add much as a portable game.
