I agree 100% with this thread. MGS 4 is best game so far this generation but how long will that accomplished title last for?
This must be one heck of an underwhelming genration.

Well I could say what you just said and apply it to any Mario or Zelda game. The world is full of different opinions. Each to their own.

Based on Metacritic scores. Spoken with a straight face. Not surprising, considering Metacritic seems to be the cornerstone of your argument for the best gaming platform.

Gamerankings and Metacritic are biased sites and in my books have no credibility. Game reviewers have little or no credibility. 15 year old game reviewers speaks for itself. lol.
I actually liked Endless Ocean the most. But then I didnt play MGS4 and neither Portal.

I wouldn't call MGS, Zelda:TP, or SMG the best of the Gen... Al three are only marginally different.
This generation is about User Generated Content, Online intergration, and Unique Controls. (According to execs from many companies)
Nothing has satisfied that yet. As of right now? maybe, to me: Boom Blox, Echochrome, UT3... but none of those are really perfect or Generation Defining... it's just too early. We still have 38 good years.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
The only bias from Gamerankings and Metacritic comes from the source of the reviews despite basing scores on an average index of those sources. That's probably the biggest shortcoming of both sites, and certainly the greatest flaw in using either as the so-called proof of objective ratings.
If either site had a cream of the crop ratings from the most respected publications and review sources, that would be a fairly different situation. But seeing as how self promoted high school grade blogger sites are thrown into the review index averages as well as many equally unreliable and excessively biased "official" review sources, it's pretty hard to take either without a boulder of salt.
