Anyone who believes the Wii doesn't have supply issues should at the very least be able to produce some photos (or even accounts) of Wiis piling up at stores.

Really, such a sudden and big drop wouldn't happen in the course of a week, even if some factors were making Wii demand go down.

Get ready to weep son, as I, Smeags, have the ultimate proof!

Here is me, residing with a stackfull of Wii's! That's right! This picture was taken last month (ahem) last week, which proves that Wii's are everywhere, collecting dust just like they are on everyone's shelves! Mwehehehe!

LOL. Nice face btw.

Lmao when was this taken lol.

Hilarious photo. There should be a thread for "I spy Wii inventory."

With the production increase, this should be an increasingly more common sight, particularly since sales have not been consistently 33% higher than they were before the production increase to reflect the 1.8m to 2.4m max production change.

Of course, the production increase has only been in effect for about a month, so it's still too early to see the trickle down effect. The main benefit will be once the holiday season kicks into high gear as we approach Black Friday.

That's when the massive stockpiles are released and it's hard to find out how early they increased production until the year is over. From their information, I'd say about 45m shipped at the end of the year is the benchmark. (20m by the end of last year, plus each half of the year at 1.8m and 2.4m per month respectively)

Joking.

This is just an odd month... things should be changing back to normal within the next few weeks.

This is the heart of it.

When Wii stops selling as well as it is now -- and that will happen at some point in the history of mankind -- it will be a gradual but inevitable slowdown.

It will not suddenly and immediately start selling 50% as much on a week-by-week basis. Demand doesn't work that way. Sudden and precipitous sales changes are due to shipping; gradual and slow changes are due to  actual fluxuations in demand.

Consider the PS3 this week, for example. It sold 75% more this week than it did last week. OMG! PS3 demand is suddenly skyrocketing!

MGS4 bundle pack sells better then Wii or $200 box for sure. Sony has 2 options. Up supply of the bundle pack or eat a price cut.

Now. Since the $200 Xbox has come out. Who's average sales have gone down more? PS3 or Wii?

Not percentage wise units wise.

I'm seeing the biggest wii drop ever looming.

  • The Wii has strange sales. I just don't get why the sales dropped that hard. Is it possible to go to a retailer in the US and buy a Wii at any time or are there shortages? Maybe a big load of consoles coming next week
  • The DS is a monster. There is no other explanation for this
  • The Xbox360 had another good week. I think the Xbox360 will win north American over the PS3 this generation. This is something nobody expected at the times of the Xbox1. Good for MS.
  • The PS3 is really having a hard time right now. I don't understand why there should be shortages. Just because of a new SKU? How hard can it be to change from a 40GB PS3 to a 80GB PS3? It is strange for me. MS changed from 20GB to 60GB and managed it to sell very decent in the US.
  • The PSP steady hardware sales as always, but again, there won't be great software sales.

I am really looking forward to the Japan numbers. According to media control the PS3 sold 9.291 units from 07/21/08 till 07/27/08. Being under 10k in Japan, around 40k in NA and around 70k in Europe would be hard for Sony.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Nice numbers
