Forums - Microsoft - Rare dev: 'I don't think 360 has reached its limit'

Regarding the capabilities of the Xbox 360, Burton noted that he's able to do things now that he thought impossible at the start of the generation.

"If you see some of the stuff we've done, in fact some of the stuff our guys have done, the GPU particle systems and things like, some of our guys have been working on the geometric style real time radiosity," explained Burton. "Even at the start of this generation, if you'd said to me, without actually me just looking at it and you were asking me off the cuff as a graphics programmer, could that happen, I'd have said no. And then you think, well, what's going to come next? You can still keep pushing it and pushing it and pushing it."

double trap great :P

Interesting. Can't wait for Banjo and Viva 2.

ummm.... not to knock on the 360, but a console will NEVER hit it's limit. Ever. I mean, look at the PS2's games in 2001 and then look at GOW2. Yeah. The 360 is no exception to this rule. Devs will always find ways to coax more performance out of the hardware. At least this guy is willing to say something to silence the idiot fanboys.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Look at the NES homebrew out there, the NES hasn't hit it's limit.

I wish these guys would stop it.  Sony guys say game X only uses XX%, MS says game Y only uses YY%.  It's PR and dev talk BS.  Yes consoles don't hit there limits and I don't need to hear this every time a game hits its sales goal.  They never say it before that.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I suppose they felt the need to say it as some people assume the 360 has peaked already.
