Hey everybody,
I don't know how many folks here are PC gamers from the old days when we had games like Fallout, Deus Ex, Freespace, System Shock 2, and more to play back then. Well, I'm one of them. And I have to say, I hold a lot of titles like these dear to my heart. Even though they're old and crotchety, I still think of many of these games as some of my all time favorites. And, I don't know about anyone else, but a lot of these games don't run on Vista or XP and if they do sometimes just have issues. So, I generally can't reinstall or play them again without running a Windows 98 virtual machine.
Well, someone out there has made something awesome - called Good Old Games.
Apparently, this site is going to host all kinds of awesome old games for around $7-$10 each. They're going to be downloadable, but here's what I think is even better than Steam: All their downloads are DRM-Free. You can back them up to CDs/DVD's and never need to worry about authenticating the games. And, ll the games they offer are being re-tooled to work on Vista/XP.
I have to say, I'm already sold on the service. Just getting these games to run on Vista would be awesome.
What do you guys think of the idea?
