So it has no single player campaign or storyline?

It has both of those.

Then it has potential.
Critics love originality and engines. Consumers don't buy game engines, they buy games. Online trading games with new IPs can be dangerous. That's why they require campaign modes to fall back on, because wheather critics or developers like it or not, the single player game is the meat of the game for a ton of gamers. Most likely well over 50 percent of purchasers. That's why we see games like Battlefield, Starcraft, and Advance Wars get meaty campaigns and scenerios. A game entirely dependant on user created content....well those games should be free. Even the sims can do better than that.
The stigma around this game is that it won't be worth playing unless you have an online connection. I can tell you that though most of us have one, that thought immediately turns a lot of players off. Left 4 Dead, for instance, even it can be played with AI partners for just such people.
I'm not being snarky here when I say that it is very GOOD to hear that this game will have a built in single player game, as well as a storyline. My interest has peaked, at that news. I always assumed it was just some advanced version of line-rider with a penchant for PSN users. Anyone can build an engine. Making a good game, now that's what we need to challenge developers with.
The game has charm. Let's see if it can deliver in gameplay, storyline, or perhaps both.
