Forums - Microsoft - Prediction Game: Will the X360 have more 1m+ sellers in 08 than 07?

I'm checking numbers on both Vgchartz and Wikipedia, and neither show a Brothers in Arms game that has ever sold over a million. It's a possible million seller, with a slim chance of becoming one, but the series seems pretty small. It's definitely not a lock.

As for Mercenaries 2, the situation is similar. According to Vgchartz, the first one sold .62 million on the PS2 in America. Given PAL numbers, it might have sold over a million. However, the game launched when the PS2 userbase was about 70 million, as opposed to the 20 million or so userbase the 360 will have when Mercenaries 2 launches. Not that it won't sell well, but it's not a lock.

The first Viva Pinata was bundled to a million, and it likely never would have reached a million anyways. So by that regard, it's tough to say. However, I definitely wouldn't proclaim it a lock.

Also, Huxley doesn't seem to have a fixed release date. So far, what I've gathered on its release date is "To Be Announced" or "Late 2008." It's not entirely impossible that it could see a delay.

Otherwise, I'd say your list is good. NBA 2K9 might also end up being a million seller if you haven't added that already.

18 games will be 1+ million sellers.

EDIT: forgot to take 1 game out.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well maybe you could add Skate 2 to your list.

Skate has sold about 666.000 American copies and I think it could be a million seller, if vgchartz would track the EU numbers.

Nevertheless the minimum amount of million sellers will be 15. I expect 22

...And Battlefield never sold well on consoles, yet Battlefield: Bad Company on X360 has outsold Battlefield 2 in a matter of 5 weeks. So I thin BIA and Mercs 2 can easily sell well. Remember: VGC has incomplete data, so time will tell how these new games sell.

As for VP - 570,000 of those copies (NA + JP) were all sold. And a decent bit (but obviously not all) of the European sales were non-bundles as well. I doubt it hit 1m without bundles, but I think VP has built up a good name brand, and will benefit from it.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
