Forums - Microsoft - Another picture of 360 price drop

@dmeister, what about target selling 60s for 299, that seems like a bit of a sign. seems ms did not even bother to change skus between the units.

to clarify i have only read and have not seen any in the wild though i think i will look today

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

@ Godbless

Okay.

So why no screenshot for that? I'll put that in the unbelievable pile. Why focus on the SKU that no one buys, rather than the Pro or Elite. Someone get me a screenshot of the Pro or Elite, not word of mouth.

@ goddog

Target simply messed up that. Same thing happened when the PSP Daxter pack came out last year. The MSRP was really 200 bucks, but they were selling it for the same price as the core. That's all that it is.

Hey, Just found this in the xbox-Scene.com forums...

"
copy of an email I just sent to the poster:

good morning,

I would like to clarify statements made about this photo:

This photo was staged. The photo is a screenshot of software used at Loblaws Companies, the leading grocery store chain here in CANADA. It is a shot of a menu that allows employees to change prices at store level (for example if an employee wanted to put a can of beans on sale). The first line of pricing that says 279.99 is the price set by head office. The blacked out bar on the same line to the left of it says HOST. In all cases the HOST is head office. The black bar immediately to the left of the 199.99 says STORE. The underlined 199.99 is what the person taking the photo entered, along with dates he entered as well. I can take a screenshot of a typical price update menu, as well as what is showing in ALL stores for the sku that was staged for this photo. The screen shown does not show advance pricing as is only used to change current prices set by head office (to put somthing on sale, clearance, or to take something off sale if a mistake was made). There is a method at store level to check advance pricing but is limited to store management and only allows you to see 2 weeks ahead. Any pricing for items further than 2 weeks ahead are not in this particular area of the system as they are estimates for ordering purposes only.

Thank you,

Sounds like a hoax but would be a good idea for MS to drop the price of the arcade

a drop after another wow.

Lol, it's a hoax.

VGChartz's one looks real, in that someone faking one would be quite unlikely to do it that way. Also, the poster in question was a lurker who had registered his account long ago.

Sources: Xbox 360 price cut week of Sept. 7; 60GB $299, Elite $399, Arcade $199

It appears that two of the Xbox 360 SKUs will receive a $50 price drop by the week of Sept. 7, making the 60GB model $299 and the Elite $399 -- we've yet to hear any change on the $279 Arcade meanwhile, the Arcade will drop $80 to $199. A few of our retail contacts, some of whom have given us good intel in the past -- and who all work for separate corporations -- have sent us identical information regarding a price drop. Evidence of the Elite and Arcade price cut can be found in the gallery below featuring images sent us from the Sept. 7 Radio Shack flyer.

Update: Oh mercy, it's been a long day. The Arcade is marked as $199 in the flyer as well (under the TV, to the left). Thanks, Strike Man.
