Forums - PC - Is it that time of the generation already?

I'm seeing Spore and an expansion to Civilization

There is nothing else on PC that I've heard of to tickle my fancy, I doubt I'll even get starcraft 2 until it's down to the price Starcraft 1 is now

but...but...you forgot about starcraft 2 and diablo 3....those are mega awesome for pc gamers...and the casual pc gamer like myself :p

although they wont be out till probably 09

oh and empire total war...the total war games rock imo. that game comes feburary 3

My list is only PC exclusive games from August-December 2008. The reason I did so was to prove that PC was making a turning point in the second half of this year and "control" most of the best releases from here on until this gen ends.

2009 will be even bigger, with games like Starcraft 2, The Sims 3, Empire: Total War, Demigod, Dawn of War 2, Dimensity, Disciples 3: Renaissance, Majesty 2, Cities XL, Gray Matter, Dragon Age: Origins, Blackstar Chronicles, Iron Seed 2 and Storm of War: Battle of Britain.

Where is starcraft 2 ?!?!?!?

Read above.

Wow, PC is looking awesome with some of those titles...

If FFCC:CB or Monster Hunter Tri doesn't come out soon enough, I may have to get back into PC gaming... but then again... P2P sucks.. I only hope MH Tri is Free to Play or at least only costs around 4~6 USD, and it's payable through Wii points balance.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Sims, Strategies, Expansion packs, MMOs, Open-world WRPGs, Adventure games. The genres in which these games fall in is almost a parody of computer gaming.

Luckily, you didn't list all the great multiplats that are also hitting the PC very soon, which even out that list with several more genres of games, some even Japanese oriented.

Overall, the list is relatively good, and things are looking bright for the PC this year.

The games I'm looking for here are A Vampyre Story, WotLK, and SPORE. The Witcher ultimate edition would also be a purchase for me, had I a PC to run it.

Nice post Shio.

Every platform has their strong and weak genres. In PCs case, there are 5 highly prominent genres:
Adventure
RPG
Shooter
Simulation
Strategy

While there are still a few more genres better represented on PC any other platform:
Puzzle/Parlor
Racing
Sports

So the exclusive games revolve around those genres. That's why you'll never see an exclusive Action-Adventure or a Fighting game (or other console-centric genre) on PC.

Finally you made the PC exclusive list instead of bashing the Xbox 360.
List looks decent. A little lack of shooters.

There are 4 Shooters (5, if you include Zeno Clash as such) in the list, and I didn't mention a few more that could've made the list, like Fallen Empire: Legions (spiritual successor of Tribes 2).

Yeah sry I meant there is a little lack of singleplayer shooters.

And personally for me too much strategy/simulation games and WRPGs

Oh exclusive games to PC ;) I was going to say C&C Red Alert 3 comes out in October

My personal complaint with PC gaming at the moment is (nearly) every game is either focused on pushing the handful of SLi based systems to the maximum, or is focused on being able to run on a 2 year old laptop ... I find it frustrating to go out and spend a large chunk of money buying a mid-level gaming PC only to have the "good looking" games run poorly, and the rest of the games running at a similar level to what my old PC could run them at.

Singleplayer shooters are rare in any platform. Wii only has The Conduit being released soon, while PS3 and 360 have none coming out soon. PC has Crysis Warhead, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and Zeno Clash, and some more. Oh yeah, there's a Bioshock-like one coming on PC too!! Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason! How could I forget that one, going to add it.

There's alot of Strategy, Simulation, RPGs, Shooter and Adventures in the list because those are the genres that sell great on PC. So the exclusive games are on revolving around those genres. If you want PC games from other genres, just buy the multiplatform games.

Just added Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason.

The Arctic Circle, Russian North Pole station ‘Pole 21’, 1968 - Alexander Nesterov is a meteorologist sent to investigate the final hours of the North Wind, an old nuclear ice-breaker trapped in an icy grave. This steel beast once fought for its country, but during a dangerous mission it drifted into an ice trap slowly freezing to death every living thing on board. Alex must fight against the intense cold by finding any remaining heat sources as he investigates the final days of the North Wind and unlocks the mysteries within. However, Alex is no ordinary meteorologist as he possesses a unique ‘Mental Echo’ ability that allows him to relive the final memories of the dead and change their actions in the past, changing their future. Nothing can prepare Alex for the truth he uncovers as he digs deeper into the history of the ship. Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason takes players on a terrifying trip into the unknown as they explore the dark, frozen, claustrophobic corridors and unlock the shocking secrets of the North Wind.

good stuff

I look forward to not getting laid for a couple of months.

I can tell this will be a problem for a lot of people. Time to change the hours per day to 32 hours.

I don't see how that would help... I would just be playing more.

I need to balance PC and Wii.  PC to keep me at home and disease free, Wii to keep me in touch with people.

well more hours in the day means you will beat games quicker meaning you will have more time for other things.
