Sony have a lot of casual tittles like singstar and buzz that they could leverage more agressively next gen and get the casual audience. but we can't make an informed decision until we find out what all the next gen consoles are like.

Sony needs to do everything they did last gen.
-Make an affordable console that the mass can purchase
-take back the 3rd party exclusivity, which made them so powerful in the first place. Their most important games are 3rd party, so it's manditory...that they worry more about the people, than Blu Ray.
Everything else will fall back in place after that. Screw the graphics...that hasn't proven a thing in the console wars.

And I'm guessing the PS4's will be 2 PS3's glued together. |
And the Sixaxis will become the Sixteenaxis!
Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
The biggest problem was not the price but the lack of games. If the PS3 would have had a stronger lineup and been able to maintain a strong output of good games I think they would have been in a lot better position than it was. Also don't forget there was a lot less PS3's than there was suppose to be at launch.
Which did hurt them. I don't think that they would have outsold wii but I think there sales would have been around 23-24 mil if the game lineup had been stronger.
To sum it up, Sony can make the PS4 a "supercomputer" for its time as long as it has a strong launch of games to go with it and to follow every month after.

I thought it was a good question until that part. That's when I just lost a little respect for you. Even so the question at least is still valid even with anti Nintendo intent.
No, nor will they produce a machine like the previous machines. It will be more expensinve than Nintendo. It will copy all the core elements that Nintendo has. Pointer, extendeble controller, XMB? will be simplified. There will be a casual division. In the end it will push a new technology, but be more a hybrid of Wii and PS3.
However I think the Wii2 will be essentially a 360 with Wiimote + new tech innovation.
If Sony really wants to make a den't next round it's going to have to come up with an easy to use and wanted feature by consumers that the compitition doesn't have. Otherwise PS4 will likely be made irrlevent again.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

It was all about the price and the majority of the people didnt know what to make out of Blu Ray. Sony was all about winning the HD-DVD format was this gen and gaming came second. FACT.

presumably
Depends on if Nintendo's next console is a Wii2 or something totally new. If it is just a Wii2 then Sony can easily copy it and appeal to everyone, if it's something new they'll have trouble.
If you find out, give me some lottery numbers too.
Ok So Nintendo dominated with Nintendo and super nintendo. Then Sony beat them when they got overly ambitious with the N64. Then Sony dominated with PS1 and PS2 then Nintendo beat them when they got overly ambitious with the PS3... and the world turns...
