"it was PlayStation that kind of emancipated people from the keyboard, mouse and joystick with EyeToy."

Was the EyeToy that successful? And are they finally admitting the Wii is effectively stealing their userbase (even if with a suspicious and cocky argument)?

I thought it was pretty successful in Europe. I thought it did very well as do Buzz and Singstar in EU.

most of sony's casual games like eyetoy, singstar and buzz were actually very popular in the uk, and still are.

the tital of this thread is funny

My respect for Sony has just risen a bit. I can't say my respect for Ninty has fallen much, since its already pretty abyssmil after a watched a commercial for the Wii consisting of only people older then 50.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Like they have lead in the online arena? The only "leadership" I've seen from Sony is leading consumers to their propriertary format in the form of blu-ray. Sorry, but to slander the Wii is a joke...that console has been able to LEAD gaming into the realm of casual gamers, which has been a primary goal of console makers for years. They are "leading" anybody to anything, they are trying to sell a new format to consumers and consumers aren't buying into the hype...I suspect the DVD will receive another technical boost in the next 12 months to extend the life of the format for another 5-6 years. This will all but seal the fate of blu-ray, since there will be very little incentive to switch, by consumers.

Sony has stolen Ideas from Nintendo even after they tried to steal a good slice of the pie with them when Sony was helping with the CD-I.

Why do people even care what Sony PR says? Or any PR for that matter?

They're dumb.

Why we even post this stuff is beyond me.

Because Sony PR is known for being assholes.

Because if you Nintendo said something equally as stupid you would be the first one posting it reveling in the feast that would ensue.

If sony officially announces something, its news and its going to be talked about. Just because it makes you cringe doesn't mean it not something worth sharing. This gives us an excellent insight into the company Sony now is.

Yeah, okay sure.

I think you give the inner fanboy in me too much credit.  He's not that bad.

I would post it, but only because every Ninitendo fanboy/girl is so quick to post any sort of PR from Sony or Microsoft that calls the Wii a fad for the same exact reason.

It would be nice for people to get a taste of their own medicine.

But I wouldn't revel in the feast that would ensue, I would just hope that people would get over the fact that PR is dumb, and the only people who even listen to  what PR says are gamers who don't believe a word that comes out of their mouth, and don't care about all the BS they spew about 10-year life cycles, Wii being a fad, or added memory for Geeks and Otaku.  This isn't reported on mass media outlets, and it's not in the mainstream, because they don't care.  If they don't, why do we?
