Forums - Microsoft - Funny issue with Alone in the Dark and updating for the 360

So I'm borrowing Alone in the Dark because I like to punish myself with bad games sometimes (actually, I really want to hear the music) so I bring it home and pop it into my console...

A few seconds later I realized I was an idiot and popped Alone in the Dark for the 360 into my PS3 and immediatly rejected it and then promptly placed it in my 360.  A few seconds later a white screen pops up with about 20 different languages telling me to put a 360 game disk into my console.

I reset and try again, same thing.  I reset, eject, and try again and still get the same.  I reset again with the disk in the system and where it usually says Play gamep it said unplayable disc.  So today I take the game back to work to tell them that it didn't work.  One of the testers took it, saw the same screen I did, and then after signing into his profile he was asked to update.  After updating, his game worked fine.  I'll guess I'll try that when I get home tonight.

Has anyone else had this funky issue with the 360 version of Alone in the Dark or any other game?  My 360 is usually pretty slow to sign in but no other game has given me that screen or that much grief.  Even the 360 here at work had the same problem until after he manually signed in out of the game and then tried to play.

Worked first time for me - not signed into live.

I bought a used copy of Ghost Recon: AW 2 which does something similar.

Lol, you should've had ''PS3 ate my 360 game'' as headline for massive vg$.

On-topic: I hope your problem is solved now.

I got that screen alot with my old halo 3 disc. It turned out it had small cracks and was just broken.

Sounds like a damaged disc, but I guess if an update fixes it, that's it.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

That's been my problem on my first XB 360 with every game... I could read DVD videos, but any game I had that screen that tells you that you should put the DVD in a 360 (wtf with that??? what a hell am I doing right now ????) solution to fix the problem, tap on the DVD drive while reading kind of the same approach my friends had with the PS2 when ever a game wasn't going through.... that worked fine until now where I can spend more than hour trying to make any game or DVD work on the old XB if it works at all... result I bought a second XB....
OH BTW I tried to make it RRoD so I can use the warranty.... but nothing works... I have a room that can get warmer than 115F let the XB run during weeks non stop in a enclosed area with other electronic component running hot next to it.... the bitch never died....

you are just doing half of it.  get it hot, then shove it in your fridge or freezer.

Not sure why the lack of an update would keep the game from working. What if you didn't have internet?

Hmm, so I popped it in my 360 tonight, made sure I was signed in, and started up the game. I didn't get the error and I didn't any update. Odd, oh well.
