Forums - Nintendo - Do you think Resident Evil 5 will evantually be ported to Wii?

For the ones who are talking about technical feasibility:

From that comparison video, what we see in RE5 vs RE4 is updated graphics running at a higher resolution with better physics.

Seeing as RE4:Wii is by no means maxing out the Wii's hardware, I'd say there's plenty of room to upgrade RE4's engine, and convert RE5's content down to the Wii's technical level.

No reason to believe otherwise as of now... When the game is released, we can form a better opinion if the game does something surprising.

not to troll or anything but if this game was to be ported to the wii then it would be a stuttering fuzzy laggy mess compared to its hd counterparts and i dont know who would really want it.

if capcom did do a port of this game i am expecting it to be a very ow quality port and not take full advantage of the waggle

You either:

  • have not played RE4: Wii and
  • have not seen the RE4/RE5 video posted above

or

  • are just an ignorant troll

Just watch the clip and you can't honestly tell me you think RE5 can't be ported well to the Wii. RE5 is basically RE4 with a shiny gloss painted over it. Take that away and it won't look as good but it will play even better with the Wiimote.

Can somebody honestly list out what makes RE5 not a good candidate for a Wii port? All I keep hearing is "It wouldn't work/it would be so bad people won't want to play it." Just list out why.

Yes i have lpayed this game round my friends house and i stoped playing it about 5mins in and gave the controller back to me friend. i didnt feel like the waggle added to the game-play i just guess the motion thing is not for everyone, just like how a big sony bravia tv with a ps3 with a dualshock 3 controller isnt for eveyone

Wait, you didn't like actually aiming the gun?

Well, to each his own, I suppose...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

That's fair enough to say that you personally didn't enjoy the controls but you still haven't answered my question which was in response to your claim that RE5 on the Wii would be "a stuttering fuzzy laggy mess compared to its hd counterparts and i dont know who would really want it"

@azrm2k: I think he must be mixing something up when he says "laggy".

I have a Wii and a 360, and by far 360's games lag much more. HD developers are too focused on increasing resolution and graphical quality to care about stable and high framerates.

Hehe, lovely thread with lovely replies ^_^

To answer the original question, yes, I think RE5 will be ported to Wii. Maybe not soon, but I think it will.

It might be but why would Wii fans want it.? I mean I know they would want it because it is RE5; however, we all know that graphically such a port would be doomed to be dramatically inferior to either the PS3 or 360 versions like every other multiconsole game that is on all three systems, so are Wii fans just too cheap to buy another console so that they can experience a game in its best possible form. When Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. came out on the Colecovision, I knew it was time to dump my 2600.

pro evolution soccer 2008 wii is superior than 360/ps3 version, check metacritic or gamerankings

Oh I agree.  At this point i'm just humoring him to see what he could possibly say as to why RE5 won't work on the Wii.

It's abundantly clear though he has no clue and is just blathering on about how the Wii is too weak and without HD graphics gaming would be worthless.

Just an ignorant troll confirmed.

My guess is that Capcom are already working on it in some capacity but don't want to announce it until after the 360/PS3 versions are released, so as to maximise sales of all versions.
