Hey don't shoot the messenger , I saw maxconsole's article , posted it and gave my opinion on it.

You take it like i'm insulting your mothers .

Except you're the one who made the title. One article was just saying Nintendo has few new accessories planned (no mention of "Wii losing steam") and the other article was saying Nintendo are working on their next gen console. Every company is working on their next gen system. Basically you twisted the articles into "Wii losing steam" when that's not the case.

Well then, you're fired.  The messenger should not be allowed to do their job if they misrepresent the message, as opposed to just relaying it.

Wasn't Miyamoto's wii proposal Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Wii Music and that was it?

The Wii motion plus definitely has the potential for 3rd party games to step up. The Balance Board too.

Huh - so you guys want to play a game that uses:

1. Wii Motion +
2. Wiimote & Nunchuk
3. Balance Board
4. Online Connectivity
5. Voice recognition for unique functions outside of just talking
6. Wiiconnect24 for something outside of just updates
7. Dual layer Disk because it needs to be epic
8. Multiplayer 2 - 32 the more the merrier.
9. It has to be amazing

We're working on that. just give me two seconds.

*hands over a cookie*

It tastes really good doesn't it, nothing simpler than a cookie.

"Sometimes it's the simple things that please us the most no?"

A game that uses "amazing". OK Na look just the BB and WM +, not neccesarily in the same game either, but shows what they can do for gamers and even casuals.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

And one more thing Wii Music, if that was the last of the Wii line, was a major anti climax, punch in the face, piss take i think.

At least Wii Sports 2 can technically be supplimented as the true finale. Least untill Wii fit 2

Wii Motor, or whatever it was called. Some driving thing also but shafted

Unlikely...at least 15 more million sellers are coming.

Remember: PS2 had a price drop by this point (May 2002, in its 20th month) and Wii monthly sales are still topping PS2 (which was cheaper than Wii after the price cut) in month 21.

Wii is going to do something like 9.5m to 13.5m in the Americas this year. Next year should be similar once the motion plus makes the Star Wars/boxing/swordfighting games accessible to everybody.

Wii shipments are outpacing DS and PS2 lifetime shipment totals by millions. PS2 is at 132m shipped, and DS is going to ship 100m+ in under 5 years. PS2 shipped 100m in 5 years 9 months. Wii is showing no signs of slowing down. For all the talk of Nintendo not releasing much in 2008...the year is going to end up with Smash, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Rockband, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Warioland, Tales, Mario Superstar Sluggers, Madden Wii-ized, NCAA Wii-ized, Boom Blox, De Blob, Shaun White, Guitar Hero World Tour, Call of Duty 5, Rayman 3, Starwars Clone Wars, Skate It, Need for Speed, the Castlevania fighter, Rockband 2, Little King Story, Sonic Unleashed, Face Breaker KO Party.

Every one of those games should sell 300k+, 90% over 500k+ and probably 60% of them will top 1m.

I think the op is misunderstanding the quotes and this may have already been discussed.

They had an original plan for specific Wii related material and expansion type of items. These have now seen realization and have either entered to market already or are about to.

This has nothing to do with Nintendo and its continuous franchises and ips. Just the new 'Wii' centric items. This means atm they have no plans for a wii play 2 or any other sequel to other 'Wii ...' games. Though I thought at one point they were talking about a Wii Motorsports. Hmm, maybe that got sorta pushed into the Wii Sports game with the Motion Plus since that was a recent revalation and probably not part of Miyamoto's original ideas.

Either way, now they will continue to build their games utilizing the Wii to its full potential. Its just their maybe no more new Nintendo ip's.

I bought my Wii as a "GameCube++" -- plays all my GC games, plus a few (and I do mean "a few") new Wii games. Now that the GC used game market is mostly "dry" for me though (I have every GC RPG and decent GC action title, I think), I just don't turn the dang thing on anymore.

The Wii loses steam every day since it beat the GC's numbers, IMO. Backwards compatibility was totally keeping its meek software library alive, for me, and lots of folks I know.  Now the GC controller is gone... the used games are drying up (due to so much demand, I think)...

What are you nuts? If people cared about Gamecube games it wouldn't have sold 22m in 6 years. The Wii lineup is what sells Wii.
