The real question is, when will Sony fanboys spouting nonsense run out of steam?

Nintendo haven't even started yet.
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing
(mostly)
And shepherds we shall be,
For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints
I think from now to the end of the year, the momentum may die down. When MotionPlus is released, I expect momentum to go back up but I doubt momentum will go terribly low.
Pixel Art can be fun.
At worst it could become like the DS in japan but I think its too early to see if the Wii is running out of steam yet. I will at least wait till next year to see what Nintendo have for the whole of 2009 lineup before passing judgment.

Braveheart, Hardcore Gaming Edition:
January 2007: "The Wii fad is going to die any day now! Swarm the internet forums when it happens! Wait for it!"
June 2007: "Hold... "
December 2007: "HOLD!"
March 2008: "HOOOOOOLD!!!!"
June 2008: "HOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLDDDD!!"
Some point after the eighth generation has begun, and the Wii's sales decline due to market saturation: "NOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!"
Super World Cup Fighter II: Championship 2010 Edition

I feel betrayed...
Every time someone makes a thread like this it leads into an argument about IP's then someone reposts the whole list of options Nintendo has... No ones made that list yet.... impressive but no lols...
Picking out lines from their text with the context of "Wii is out of steam." works very well as far as FUD material goes:
@OP
"Nintendo Co., President Satoru Iwata has said that Wii Music completes what Miyamoto wrote in his proposal when he came up with the idea for the Wii. According to Iwata, Miyamoto has said he now needs to think up more original ideas. Iwata has also said that Nintendo don't really have any more accessories in the pipeline for Wii. "Most of the ideas for accessories that we had initially come up with are out now. We might think up some more, and we might make them if we do,>>>>>>>> but we don't have any plans to release a whole lot more."
I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Million said: The article describing the information contained in the source was done by Maxconsole , I've been arguing that Nintendo will have no choice but to loose momentum , in the first 2 years of the Wii's existance many of it's biggest IP's have been thrown at us I was shocked to find Super Mario Kart and Smash Bros Brawl come out in the same year , I heard some where on these forums that Nintendo were going for a 10 year stratergy with the Wii but I seriously dought the Wii could last another 3 years without serious 3rd party support , what's your take on this ? |
Nintendomination ends Q1 '09. You heard it here first, folks.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

You are really using the issue of no more accessories planned as something to say Wii is running out of steam? It's got more accessories than is needed in a console already. Really, accessories? Try better than that.
And saying Miyamoto has used up his ideas that he originally had when he came up with the idea of Wii? Nice trying to spin that as a bad thing. So, that was what, 6 years ago maybe? He has used up all the ideas he proposed several years ago? And, is it not a good thing that Miyamoto is going to have to propose some original ideas now? Sounds great to me. And I'm sure he's thought of some things since he thought up Wii.
And then this idea that several people have used to attack each console "They are already working on the next gen!". Uhm, duh. Thats the norm. It takes years to develop a new console. It's not something they think up, develop, test, and manufacture in a year. It's the norm for console companies to start working on the next gen console soon after the current one is released, or immediately.

Isn't running out of steam what xbox are doing right now? To me it seems so, considering sequilites, mii ripoffs and price drops. A least Nintendo, with proven DS evidence, have shown consistently that they can open up the gaming market.
Im not worried, but i agree that if the intention was to make a system which took up less space, was quiet and small then all these add-ons are a bit ridiculous. Stop now.
I just want Nintendo to prove to me now why the balance board, wii mote and WM plus are the future of gaming.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
