Forums - Nintendo - My okami Wii impressions, the brush stroking was hard wasnt true.

The other problem is that later in the game when you have a lot of similar brush stroke techniques and the game mistakens one for the other. So besides for the minor problems how do you like Okami? I finished it a couple of weeks ago and actually enjoyed it more than the Twilight Princess.
I cant say that for now since Im only beginning to play the game Im not even on the middle of the game yet, though I can say the reviewers say about the brush stroking wasnt true and saying the PS2 version was better wasnt true either, atleast on the videos I've seen so far. Drawing with analog stick was slow on what I've seen on the comparison videos. BTW, where is the video you're talking to, I want to see it.

I've played both versions. I definitely think the Wii version is much easier to control for anyone that doesn't have Parkinson's. The reason I quit the PS2 version was because the painting was too frustrating with analog sticks.

Agreed, I have plenty of experience using both the PS2 controller and the Wii controller and of the two the Wii was far easier to control the brush with.  The problem many people run into is with strait line abilities on the Wii, once you understand that you can hold down Z to force a straight line everything is silky smooth.

That was one thing a reviewer complained about in a Swedish game magazine, it was very very hard doing straight lines so he lowered the score.......that idiot probably didn't even finish the game and he certainly didn't know about the Z button.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I am still at the beginning of the game. However, my first brush stroke (The one where I had to slice the rock in the cave) took me FOREVER. It shouldnt have taken that long. And I was slicing it RIGHT in half. But for some reason, it took a bunch of tries to register correctly.

Use the Z button, ONLY the Z button then make a slice gesture it will register. I mistaked to use both the a and z button at the same time but you'll get used to it eventually. The tree section blossoming was actually harder XD good luck with that. One  advise though, dont copy the other gamers circling the whole tree or something, just circle it small. It will register

I'm packing it in for a while, as I'm getting truly pissed off with the digging minigame behind Sasa Sanctuary. No matter how much I try (Z-button or otherwise), it doesn't recognise my waterspout motion, and I end up running out of time. I wouldn't mind if it was a sidequest, but it seems that I need an artefact from completing this in order to progress.

Perhaps when I come back to it in a month I'll do it first time (such is the case when a game gets the better of me like this).

I haven't had too much trouble with the Celestial Brush. I'm only about an hour in, and only the quick slash wouldn't register for me on occassion. But I discovered that if you draw the motion fast, it'll register every time.

I dont like this game anymore. I had to backtrack to get the dogs only to in the one location get told I have to go somewhere else and in the other there was a moronic carrot digging game. Stopped right away and never looked back.

Guess I am too old for obnoxious tasks.

Alright, I just have one question:

Do the combat inabilities you face ruin the game completely?

Not (for me, anyways) at all. I hardly notice them anymore/

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.
