Forums - Nintendo - My okami Wii impressions, the brush stroking was hard wasnt true.

Anyway, I already bought Okami and played it and its more than I expected, the negative things reviewers and video game blogs  are blown away out of the water. The gameplay, the graphics and the theme was perfect you really dont have anything to say on the flaws of the game...

The celestial brush stroke was harder on the Wii than on the PS2 version. You need to precise on brush stroking for it to register. Simply not true, I admit I have a hard time on brush stroke techniques but its only because Im just new on this and its not because of the game and not because of the wiimote, I have mistakes especially on the straight lines and the tree part of the game(you know what I mean), but you get used to it only for about 20 minutes. After that the brush stroking feels natural you dont need to even think you just do it.

Theres one minor flaw of the game though, and this was really true its the attack combo since you use the waggle to attack instead of the a button. The funny part this is the real flaw of the game and yet I never heard it from the reviews  I've watched so far, and they complain about the brush strokes which isnt true at all.

I cant get used to combo attacks FOR NOW, since I just played this game recently but for me it doesnt matter, since it didnt hinder the gameplay at all. There are more techniques you can use like the cherry bomb and the slash attack to kill the enemies anyway, so it doesnt matter...

All in all, I could give this game a 9.7, it would be a perfect score 10 if not for the combo attacks but asides from that, this game was perfect for me.

For anyone that never played Okami on Ps2 before, just buy the Wii version if you dont own the Ps2 version yet. You'll not be disappointed the wiimote makes the difference...

And about the intro err... uhmm... -_- Its not THAT LONG. I've seen longer Metal gear Solid 2 anyone? And we're getting used to those, anyway the intro was only for me estimated 15-20 minutes long and you can even skip it, so... its not that bad its not even slightly bad at all.

Did you ever play it on PS2? Because frankly everyone that said the painting was hard, was saying it in the context that it was much harder to do this very important thing on the Wii than it was on the PS2.

Also I tend to go with the mass reaction of a game, and if people from IGN, Gamespot, Giantbomb and Game Informer all say that the brush stroke system is harder on the Wii version of the game than the PS2 version I tend to believe them. Nothing against you.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

If you play it and feel its good ,then it's good enough. :D

Don't just choose game from review and comments ,choose it with your feeling. X3

I've played both versions. I definitely think the Wii version is much easier to control for anyone that doesn't have Parkinson's. The reason I quit the PS2 version was because the painting was too frustrating with analog sticks.

Same question I'll bounce back to you, have you played the Wii version? Me not playing the PS2 version makes me believable since I dont even knew the game yet or never even played it and yet I think the brush stroke was very easy even for the Wii, were reviewers says the brush strokes was hard...

@Madanial  I didnt even plan on buying the game if not for members here convinced me to buy the game. :P Yeah, sometimes you should follow on what you feel rather than what others say...

LOL thats the reason why the Wiimote is invented anyway, even reviewers say that the brush stroking was hard Im still in doubt why they even say it.

I mean, how hard to draw and point at the wiimote anyway? Anyway, Im glad I buy Okami for the Wii. One of the best game I've played on the Wii so far better than No More Heroes and Twilight Princess.

Agreed, I have plenty of experience using both the PS2 controller and the Wii controller and of the two the Wii was far easier to control the brush with.  The problem many people run into is with strait line abilities on the Wii, once you understand that you can hold down Z to force a straight line everything is silky smooth.

To Each Man, Responsibility

God damn..i haven´t still bought it..Too many games i haven´t finished..

Fire emblem is so addictive.

I getting this anyway..
Mark my words

the brush strokes just takes a little getting used to - once you twig eath strokes technique as for the trees you start at the middle of the trunk and draw a circle joiniung the end of the branches or for the cherry bomb you draw the line through the one if it was a face clock then everything works great.

I think the reviews were spot-on, except for the straight lines argument. It's hard to draw straight lines, unless you press the Z button. Most reviewers failed to mention that. Attacking and combos are a bit harder with the Wii remote, because you have to get the timing right. It's easier when you just press a button. The worst move on the Wii version is the dodge move. I was shocked when I realised how inaccurate the nunchuck's accelerometers are.

Personally, I liked Okami more than Twilight Princess.  It's that good. :)
