Sure and if you believe that I would like to sell you a nice piece of land in Arizona.

Well thats good but Us and Europe wont get it until they finsih the 360 version too.

Or maybe they'll just release the Xbox360 version later than the PS3 version after they finish porting it.

Edit: A quote from the article supports my thoughts on the releases.

'In the video, director Motomu Toriyama didn't beat around the bush when Nomura asked him questions about the 360 FFXIII. Starting off, he reconfirmed that, "We haven't changed the direction of the development. We're making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later." '

Yes but they said that they will release both ps3 and 360 version at the same time in Us and Europe.

who said 360 version will dumbed down ??! until now most of the multiplatform games work better on 360.

dumbed down meaning it is compressed and lowered to the quality of Xbox 360 standard. Thats why they say dumbed down, which is why it is a port and not an original game run on the 360 right?  you believe you can play 50 gb worth of the game just like one would on the PS3 and expect the same exact results? No.

It may seem the same but running wise, loading times, size, speed, comes into effect when you play the two different versions.

Interesting point of view. How do you know it's going to take up 50GB of space?

The Orange Box on PS3 takes up 20GB of space on a Blu-Ray disc. The 360 version takes up 7GB of space on a DVD9, so it's about 3 times smaller yet it's the better version. You cannot possibly decide which version is better  based on how much space it uses up.

@horriblebastard:

Difference being that the orange box on 360 was first and that the one for PS3 had many flaws in it and didn't take advantage of the system.

This game is being built on and for the PS3 and after that it's getting ported to the XboX, which is vastly different than the analogy you are trying to use with the Orange Box to back up your claim (or tear down the claim you posted from someone else).

Lol why would someone pick up final fantasy for the 360 instead of the ps3 because if you like jrpgs then as of now and the next year by the looks of things the 360 is the place for jrpgs so please leave your unthought out comments to yourself lol.

Given they've made it very clear PS3 version will be finished (and released in Japan) before they even start 360 I don't see how it could be affected.

What interests me in light of recent news ID may (I repeat may to be clear) reduce resolution of textures on 360 to get it on 2 DVDs I'm curious whether FF will simply spread over 4 or 5 disks or whether SE will adjust any content to make fitting the game onto multiple DVD's easier... that's of course assuming the game will need more space than one DVD can deliver...

I'm also curious how SE will react if this sells like gangbusters on PS3 in Japan and they come under pressure to get it out on PS3's WW without waiting for 360 to complete. Unless they have a contract with MS now (which would mean MS did buy the release dates outside Japan being wedded at the hip) they could chose at any point to get it out sooner WW if the change their mind again - and let's face it there's plenty of evidence SE can change their mind pretty quickly when it suits them.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Well now that they a developing with a 360 port in mind it's likely that will limit the PS3 version , I mean if a game as large as this was specifacly designed to fit on unqiue architecture with a Blu-Ray25gb/50gb disc then how would they port it to the 360 without either .

A.Limiting the PS3 version in some form
B.Limiting the 360 version in some form.

In any case I dought both versions will be equal.

Now that I'm convinced that SE is not proactive like they pretend, but reactive, and have no real choice in everything they do, I'm sure PS3 FFXIII won't suffer from the X360 port. That's obvious, it's timing related.
They don't even have the devkits yet.

What concerns me more, is the possible delay they may put on the western FFXIII release on PS3. I thought they said PS3 release would be delayed in this article, but actually they never said that: that's the reporter's opinion only.

I actually think they don't know yet what they'll do.
I hope what everyone says is wrong though, and I won't believe it until clear evidence is shown. Even in this interview where they didn't beat around the bush, they didn't clearly talked about the release, just the development part and the japanese release.

Don't worry, next year's E3, Tokyo Game show, something FFXIII related will clear everything up for us. So then they will tell the TRUTH to us, because right now is just too early for speculation of what they are going to do (change their mind and make it timed exclusive PS3 first, let people know they have to compress and reduce some things in the 360 version, it will be 3-5 discs on the 360 version, it will be delayed more for a release of 2011)

We just have to wait until next year. I think the news is just a bit too early for what is their final decision about where they are headed with the game. (also praying in the future they won't port FFXIII Versus to M$ or more delays that will hurt people that want the game)

Well, so FF XIII for XB 360 will be on 4 discs, and as 4x8.5=34<50, there will be some neglectable graphics lossy compression, while graphics, physics and AI engine should remain the same... The end result, multiple discs, mixed quality graphics, perhaps some uncompleteness and minor bugs due to rushed conversion, could be a little reminiscent of Lands of Lore III, so what's wrong?
