Forums - Gaming - What company would hurt the gaming industry the most...

I like how you guys are basing off of opinion of your games or else saying so and so was non factor these gens so don't matter if left.

This is all about now. If Nintendo is gone, you have 2 HD consoles. That are really expensive to make games for. Then you have ot make sure it sells enough of those games to make a profit. Plus those games take longer to develop.

Because of this expensive and risky process you will never see any new games cause they can't afford to take the risk so you will just see GTA10, GT15, FFXXII, Madden 2020, NBA 2020, ect. You will be down to having some few 20-30 games period in the future.

You ever wonder why there is so much shovelware on wii and psn games, xboxlive games being thrown out constantly. They need to try and get some money quick.

The fact is PS and Xbox went the typical move into computer upgrade route. They built a expensive gaming computer for high tech graphics games and then found out that wait this is too expensive.

It doesn't matter that Nintendo went non-HD, or motion controlled, or that the others didn't and went HD. All that matters is that it was way too soon for HD consoles. They are not cost effective for consumers and most importantly developers. So without the cheap Wii this gen, I would be scared what the gaming industry would look like right now.

it is not me that says that it other people

With the Wii nintendo has seperated the kind of people that will buy there system compared to the kind of people who will by Sonys system.

Its no secret that they are both in the same market but both companies are after different audiances, its like saying

50 Cent competes with Mariah carey or madona, yes both are in th same business but the audiance that 50cent has is not identical to the audiance mariah carey has, almost opposite actaullt, so really they dont really compete but have to still try or people just will not buy the system

Nonsense.

Games with higher quality visuals and more effects cost more to develop regardless of platform.  HD platforms just have a higher bar so if you have the money, you can spend a great deal more on effects if you choose versus the Wii where you have no higher bar and you are stuck with different system limitations.

Are you not aware of XBL/PSN games?  It didn't take millions to make these games and they're likely turning mega-profits for their creators.

As opposed to...?  It costs money to make games, even shovelware games.  If people don't buy them, the companies who make them cannot continue to do so.  If you don't want shovelware, don't buy it.  No one is forcing you to anyway.

There is no too soon for us, the consumers.  When companies strive to produce the best product possible and do so even at a loss themselves, the consumer wins.  When companies compete so fiercely that products get price cuts, bundles, and more, the consumer wins.  When companies put so much effort into these things that they drive the prices of components down much faster than they might have otherwise fallen, who wins?  Yeah, we the consumers do.

Without the Wii, most all the 3rd party titles (which would still be made) would have gone to the 360 with the better development tools, cheaper costs, and larger install base as box titles or electronic titles.
