We've had 2 RROD on 1 Xbox 360 and 3 on another.
My son sold his after the 2nd RROD.
Mine is still in use as a DVD player and has a memory card just incase I want to play any games, but I sold the wireless controllers and HDD.

In alot of countries it is illegal to sell a product that has a defect rate over a certain percent, something like 2% to 3 % and at most 5%. But some how they have avoided this, not a single country has made them do a recall. I guess it was just the over all M$ Juggernaut with billion is cash for law suits that stopped it. Next is how well they conned the consumers. People start with the "öh but they will fix it"etc etc, but that is far from the point. If you are paying money for a expensive item like a gaming console, it should not be so prone to breaking, that you expect it to happen. The rrod at one point was as high as 37%, that is just ridiculous, out of ever 100 customers, 37 had their's break. What other consumer electronics could get away with this? It should be like 1 in 10000 people that may have a problems with a product. What I hate the most is they have never come out and admitted the problems, said what they gonna about, they have said jack shit. |
and how does this help the TC's question? go away.
And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

I had 2 before selling my 360 so I would say yes and because of gears...
i'm still trying to figure out how they go away with this myself.
seriously "i" will stick to japanese cars/electronics because the bad luck i had with american ones.
I had two PS2's die on me, but I was ok with getting them replaced under warranty because 1.) I loved my ps2 and 2.) I had a great game library available to me. I got real lucky on the second death, since it was just 2 or 3 days before my extended warranty was about to lapse.
I had to play my launch PS1 upside down for many of the final months of its life. Same with my dreamcast (which to be fair was knocked over by a cat, but still played afterward if it was upside down). I didn't even get the ps1 replaced by warranty, it was well expired by then.. had to just buy a new one.
My 360 has not RRoD'd on me, but if it does, no big deal. Three year coverage + the other extended warranty I have means I really have nothing to worry about other than losing my game console for two weeks.
I've never abandoned any of my other consoles because they broke on me, not sure why I'd start with the 360, especially considering it has the better game library this gen.
My question to the OP is.... why are you so fickle about the whether your console breaks or not? If you happened to be the unlucky soul whose ps3 broke twice, would you abandon your ps3? If you answered no, then you should rethink posing this question to others :P

Haven't had any trouble with my PS3. If the shoe was on the other foot and Sony had hardware issues, I'd have avoided the PS3. Several people have said basically, "So what if you lose your console for a few weeks?" That's just ridiculous. People have been way too quick to forgive MS for this fiasco. I spend several hundred dollars on something, it should work and I shouldn't be OK with it if it doesn't.
Keep this in mind when reading what I type...
I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.
when my 360 RROD on me, it was a blessing in disguise cause it made me take a break from gaming.
Plus, it's free to get it fixed.
Games are amazing.
Oh, and my 360 RROD twice. not in last 10 months or so.

You missed my point entirely. I have no doubt I'd like it. The point is that I refuse to put up with shoddily built electronics and I can't believe that there are so many people who are willing to play this off as no big deal.
