Games. That pretty much sums it up.
I agree with TC, Im just completely astounded as to how M$ have got away with it. Its the most defective consumer product I have ever heard of.
In alot of countries it is illegal to sell a product that has a defect rate over a certain percent, something like 2% to 3 % and at most 5%. But some how they have avoided this, not a single country has made them do a recall. I guess it was just the over all M$ Juggernaut with billion is cash for law suits that stopped it.
Next is how well they conned the consumers. People start with the "öh but they will fix it"etc etc, but that is far from the point. If you are paying money for a expensive item like a gaming console, it should not be so prone to breaking, that you expect it to happen.
The rrod at one point was as high as 37%, that is just ridiculous, out of ever 100 customers, 37 had their's break. What other consumer electronics could get away with this? It should be like 1 in 10000 people that may have a problems with a product.
What I hate the most is they have never come out and admitted the problems, said what they gonna about, they have said jack shit.

Because it got fixed quickly and for free, and the 360 has an amazing games library.

Ditto.
I have no shortage of games on the 360 I'd love to play such as Mass Effect or Gears of War. However, I can't get past the stigma of the RROD and I suspect I'm not alone. To me, unreliable hardware negates great software.

With my negative Sony experiences, they never helped me, just said too bad... With RRoD, the two times I had to deal with it were in the same week. I shipped the two back and got them returned in two weeks without issues... (And afterwards, they accidentally sent me another one, so I shipped two back and got three in return!)... My 360's are on a lot and and I haven't really had the same problems that many people are having (My two launch 360's still haven't RRoD'd)... Meanwhile 2 of my PS3's have bricked twice (1 time hardware, second time 2.40 upgrade, and my one and only Wii bricked once, both forcing me to buy new ones as warranties were up)... I don't find 360 to be that much more unreliable even though it is used way more then the other consoles. |
I'll ask the obvious. With all of your hardware failures, do your systems get proper ventilation in your entertainment center?

No that's why I am selling my 360.In addition I would keep it if I liked the games but I mostly like nintendo games that's why I feel the 360 is not the console for me.

Even if they addressed it? Sounds like stubborn rather then stigmatize. You might not be alone but your definetly in the minority.
Playstation fans should identify themselves with this. I remember playing on an upside-down PS1 at a friend's place, and I remember people who bought more than one PS2. The former is no big deal (although a bit ridiculous), but the latter is clearly worse than getting RROD.
