Forums - Gaming - Why can't we get a decent Castlevania game on a console system?

The last decent Castlevania game on a non-handheld system that I can think of is SOTN.  I somewhat enjoyed the 1st PS2 game, but why is Konami only putting their awesome Castlevania games on handheld systems and dumping the garbage on consoles?  There was what...at least 3 games for the GBA and another 2 for the DS so far and another on the way if I'm not mistaken.

Listen up Konami.  Some of us don't do portable gaming.  Give us some Castlevania lovin' on the consoles.  At this point, I don't even care if you just take the handheld games and make them into a compilation for the Wii or something.  Keep your stupid fighting game and give me some 2-D Castlevania goodness.

Because 2D experience of SotN is very hard to pull off in 3D. Also, because of limited resources, the level designs have to suffer in the 3D ones

You know if you don't like handhelds because of the screen then buy a gamecube and the gba connector so you could play it on your tv.

I want 2-D even on consoles.  NOT 3-D.  Some games just don't work as well in 3-D and Castlevania proves it.  As much as I love Mario 64, I hate that it made every single older franchise think that it could be better in 3-D.

i dk, when was the last true 3d version made?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Super Mario 64 and FFVII benefitted from being in 3D.  Castlevania could make a good 3D installment,  It's just a matter of improving the level designs and such

Ever played Odin Sphere? That game had 2-D sprites in beautiful 3-D backgrounds. Side scrolling.

Why can't they do something like this for Castlevania right?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

I think Castlevania could be great in 2.5-D perspective.  3-D modeling for characters, but gameplay on a 2-D plane.

I would drool over a castlevania that did something like that and returned to its roots.

The fact that the DS games recieve great feedback is proof that it should not have been changed.

I still have to get Odin Sphere. Thanks for reminding me. I got hyped for it ever since I saw the trailer for Oden Muramasa Youtouden( I don't know if that is spelled right). I think castlevania would work nice like that. Maybe as a Wiiware,PSN,XBL title.
