Forums - Sony - Very Unhappy PS3 Owner

he had to have done something else.  All that the hold down the power button does is reset some settings not erase save files, etc from the hard drive.

as said before it sounds like he went into the xmb and did a system restore.  or was fooling around in the xmb when he couldn't see anything.

Believe it or not, he's 35! I'm not sure if it's the power button he held down or what. He has an SD connection at his house. I'm HD only!! He said Sony told him to hold down some button. I'll get with him later, and find out exactly what he did. For all I know, he pressed some random buttons when he had no picture, and reset the PS3 to factory defaults or something. He has the worst luck of anybody I ever met (hence me feeling sorry enough to "loan" him $300.)

Probably deserved it, though. The guy has NEVER let me borrow any of his games!

I think he formatted the PS3 mistakenly,,,,cause that's the only way all the saves and updates will be earesed

Sucks to be him. Anyway, I see no correlation between the HD settings and the dl'ed stuff. Flashed maybe? Why did the updates take so long?

It took so long because he never updated his console ever, and each game (Heavenly Sword, Area 51, and Resistance was all we updated today) required it's own update.  While the game updated, we were playing Soul Calibur on the 360.  We'd check on the PS3 sporadically.

Wow that is some pretty rotten luck. Why didn't he just wait for you?

Ahahahaha.. Lol.. Shit happens... But damn that's too pitiful. Just because of one misunderstanding. :S

It sounds like he didn't do as instructed and he just wants to blame someone for his stupidity, altering the story of what happened in the way.

Don't take any offense, but in the eyes of someone away from the conflict it seems like that...

Teach him to play Standard Definition. j/k!!

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

So, my cousin got a PS3 back in January (despite owing me $300 for over a year).  Since then, he's bought about 8 games.  He's not online.  Anyway, I got my PS3 in June.  I tell him about the PS Store and about my console updates.  He get's the bright idea that he can bring his 40 gig (LOL, I got an 80gig!) Playstation to my house, hook it up to the internet, and update his console so he can use his recently purchased Dual Shock 3 with his older games.

So, the plan works.  I spend about an hour updating his console, and his older games.  He goes home, and hooks his PS3 up.  No picture.  So he calls me back.  "Hey cousin, what'd you do to my PS3?"  I tell him I adjusted the settings.  I set it up for an HDTV, because SD sucks balls.  I tell him to wait until I get off work (two hours from now) and I'll set his PS3 up the way he had it.

The sunnova bitch calls Sony and tells them that he can't see anything.  They tell him to hold some button down, and everything will be back to normal.  He calls me back.  Turns out, all of his game saves, downloads (we downloaded some wallpapers) and even the updates we did today are gone!!  He is so pissed at me!!

First of all it sucks with all those downloads. Secondly....he still owes you $300.

Damn that is bad news.
