You counting every game Mario has been in? I think it should be even more then that.

I used the VGC numbers. If Nintendo has other numbers for Mario, we have to have overtracked Mario by more than 100M.

but maybe nintendo is counting mario platfirmers, not every mario party, mario kart and mario sport title. oh yeah and mario RPG, paper mario, mario and luigi, mario vs donkey kong ect

A better comparison would be biggest sales per game in a franchise, though that is far more complicated to work out as franchises like Mario have so many games...

Nintendogs wins Others..  It's the only title on either of those charts that is a single game on it's own...not a series of several.
