All these I enjoyed quite a bit, higher graded ones I recommend checking out first before the others.

Crest of the Stars

Well I like Naruto, Bleach, (without fillers) samurai champloo, Fullmetal alchemist, eyeshield #21, Ghost in the Shell, and people what about Gintama (funniest anime i've ever watched).

Has anyone mentioned Monster?

I've already watched hundreds -> thousends of anime and there are many many superb and wonderful anime out there , but my all-time favorite series remains:

Seikai no Danshô/Monshô/Senki I-III (english name Birth/Crest/Banner of the Stars I-III)

Let's see:
1. Maison Ikkoku (no contest)
2. Fushigi No Umi No Nadia (No contest either)
3. Kenfuu Denki Berserk
Then it's more difficult...

As for movies, without any contest, my number one is Tenkuu No Shiro Laputa.
