Surely Gears 2 will outsell R2 comfortably.

Normally good sequels to good well selling games sell more. Expect the same to happen with both of these games.

Why do people always make it a battle. Both will sell very well and be commercial successes but gears 2 will sell more.

Hey OP, you do realize LTD means life to date, right? How can something sell xx copies life to date if it's not even out yet?

I think the same can be said about Gears 1.  It was the first game to really demonstrate the value of HD gaming.  It was essentially a launch title for the 360.

I don't like the fact that people tie R2's success to GeoW2.  Both games will sell well and will be great.  GeoW2 will sell close to 5 million, and R2 will sell close to 3 million.

Gears 2 will do about 8 - 10 mill lifetime sales.

Gears 1 will do about 6-7 mill. (it will get a boost from Gears 2)

R2 will do 3-4 mill lifetime sales.

Rfom2 will have very tough competition of Far Cry 2 and COD5

If Microsoft promote gears 2 vigorously for a month or so before the release, i feel the first month sales themselves will answer both the questions. GOW2 will seem poised to outsell the first part comfortable, and R2 overtaking it would seem like a long shot. Of course, the same can easily happen even if it isnt promoted, cause gears was a way better game than Resistance 1, so fans, more than E3 footage ,can be influenced by that
