God Of War III - yes
Final Fantasy XIII - multiplat, a lot of people will get a ps3 for it but a lot will just get it for the 360
Slim? - doubtful we'll see this until the PS4 is announced or it won't have a hard drive or something else that would be more cost effective for sony.

And I agree with the last paragraph for the most part.

Actually Gran Turismo 5 is still set to be released in 2009. The possibility exists for it to be delayed until 2010, but it's nothing more than that. A possibility.

Final Fantasy XIII will likely sell at least 3 to 4 times better on PS3 than on 360 and hardware sales will reflect this. FFXIII isn't getting released on 360 in either Japan or Asia, and Final Fantasy titles typically sell best in Japan. Furthermore, Europe sales of FFXIII will of course heavily favor PS3 over 360 because Europe is practically Sonyland and this fact should become virtually indisputable by the time FFXIII is released there. Even as far as America is concerned, I wouldn't be surprised if FFXIII sold better on PS3 than 360. Final Fantasy has always had a strong association with PlayStation consoles and the fact that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still PS3 exclusive will sway many buyers toward getting a PS3 versus a 360 for the Final Fantasy games alone.

Sony may perhaps not release a "slim" model of the PS3 next year, but you can bet your ass they'll be releasing a more cost-friendly model so as to stop selling systems at a loss. Naturally, a more cost-friendly model would a more consumer-friendly price.

 

 

versus is still a exclusive, and ff13 will sell much more on the ps3 in europe  and japan (where is a exclusive).

the slim model will come end 2009- middle 2010 more likely the later, those sales won't reflect til much later.

So actually, 40mill for the PS3 is actually possible, I first didn't think so, but 34-38mill looks more likely.

30mill for the Xbox360 is way to low tho', it should be in the area of 35-40 mill by then.

Wii is not an easy one to predict, many have failed here..    My guestimate says it should be close to 80 mill.

Come on guys! Now you aren't disagreeing because of the thread, you're disagreeing because it's Rock_On. 

Rock_On predicts:

1) Wii will sell 40% faster than Ps3.

So far this year: Wii is selling 90% faster.

2) Ps3 will sell 250% faster than X360.

So far this year: Ps3 is selling 40% faster

 

Those two are totally unlikely to happen.

 

But look at his main prediction - that's the one you should focus on.

40 million Ps3 by end of 09.

 

That's actually a fairly good prediction. Not obvious, but very possible.

Now Rock_On when do you think PS3 will pass the 360? I'd assume by your prediction of end of 2009 sales some time late summer 2009 but I'd like to know when you think it would.

To be honest I think by the end of 09 it will look something like 37-40 million for XBox and 38-41 for PS3 with PS3 just slightly ahead of the 360 because of a better holiday in 09 if things keep going like they are but this Holiday and how each system stacks up next have yet to be determined and could change this wildly.



Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

35 million is my estimate for PS3
360 will be around 33 million
Wii should pass 70 million...possibly as high as 75 million.

Why does everyone assume the 360 will be in last place? The dude at microsoft conference e3 said the 360 will beat the ps3 ww.

PS3: 36.5-38.5 million.
360:35-38 million
Wii: End of 08=38m
2.2 a month (-.2m for stockipiling) times 11 with 1 3.0m month (holidays)=

65million for the Wii by end of 09 at least.

40m is optimistic, but I don't see the PS3 selling more in 1 year than they did in 21 months.
