Forums - Sales - Opinion: 60 gig 360 cannot compete with 80 gig PS3 at $350

I think that with bluray winning the HD format war average consumers are going to be looking for a bluray player this year. HD TV sales will be bigger then ever and so will the PS3's. I predict PS3 outselling 360 2 to 1 q4 for that reason alone.

Note: I'm sure some would argue that 360 will sell more then Ps3 because of games but that argument sounds like somthing that would have been valid in 2006 and not so much today.

wow, since when was the ps3 $350 Dollars?
I believe the ps3 will outsell the 360 too, but it wont by that much. Remember, It will be very hard to dethrone the 360 in NA, its their base. Sony needs to cut the price in Europe, then MS will be in trouble.

Exactly, who would buy a video game console to play video games anyway?? Forget 2006, that's like living in the 90's.

Not by that much. But I think PS3 will start outselling the 360 again soon, but I don't think it will catch up any time soon.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Actually it's the 60 gig 360 priced at $350. And I don't think that PS3 will dethrone 360 in NA untill q 4 09. is that impossible? I don't think it is as HDTV owners increase.

*I think M$ will pull a fast one and drop 60 gig to $299 in time for december 08 that would push my prediction back.

I think the PS3 will overtake the 360 in NA, and even outsell it this holiday. I think MS will have another price cut this holiday to compensate. Sony may never catch the 360 in America, but only time will tell. 2 to 1 seems really high....but hey, you even stated many would disagree with that number.....count me as one who disagrees.

he ment that the 60gig xbox360 at $350 will not compete with an 80gig ps3 for the same price as a 40gig.

On topic: the ps3 may outsell the xbox360 once the new 80gig launches but it wont be by much as psrock said.

Well doubtful that 60GB will be at $350 come November.

Expect standalone Blu Ray players available sub $200 for the Holidays. This will lesson the purchase the PS3 as a Blu Ray player purchases.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Oh, and on the Blu-Ray topic. Lets hope on seeing some $200 players this holiday. Sony may have won the format war, but off brand players will hope to capitalize this holiday and I doubt that these other companies will all remain near current PS3 prices, in the hopes of helping Sony win console sales. Call me crazy, but its just as much about money for them. I myself, am just buying my time until players are cheaper by $100-$200 dollars.
