EA is within its rights to limit anything on its game. This is a company takng action -- not the government censoring it.

Also, I imagine the fear of getting hit with an AO for its online content could make EA just a bit touchy on this matter. (Again, the ESRB is a private organization, set up so the government would NOT take charge).

So, if you are trying to make something "family friendly," you don't want it something looking like it came from a bizarroworld version of Plato's Retreat.

If there is a way for this content to be enjoyed just by the creator and not travel to other places, it would be fine. But if you are putting something out there for others, you have to make sure it meets with implied standards. In other words, no one cares if you go naked in your house, but don't try it on the streets.

It's unfortunate then that every online game contains an ESRB disclaimer stating "online play is not rated" (or something similar to that)

Considering you aren't forced to upload your creatures it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

It should be fairly easy to transfer characters via non official uploads.

Oh crap, the news media has started to use the word "meme."

Humanity is fucked.

"Ho! Haha! Guard! Turn! Parry! Dodge! Spin! Ha! Thrust!" -- Daffy Duck

I think people just need to grow up haha. I mean they aren't funny or cool but juvenile.

But I would say the best thing about all this is that the majority of those perverted creations were probably made by people under the age of 18 haha.

They're overreacting but I must say... Those people (who do those... "parts" shaped creature) are very juvenile and really seem to have no life.

If somebody can only find intertainment by that kind of means in a game such as Spore, they have issues. And I definately don't want their trash showing up in my game. People like that guy who didn't have the guts to tell CNN his name can get off on making those if he so wishes, but if he uploads it, he needs to be banned.

I say good for EA. Who the HELL finds this crap entertaining anyway??

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
