Forums - Sony - Square Enix prefers MS over Sony?

Let it be known that I did not write this and im "not a fanboy" or w/e ppl have said in this thread. I merely got this from another forum and decided to post it here because I knew it would be food for thought (and trolls/fanboys). Now that I think about it, it shouldve gone in the gaming discussion, not sony, oh well, it was late and I was tired.

On Topic: I think that SE has to do wat is best for them, money wise, but I think that they are also hurting their image in Japan. I don't know how ppl are in Japan but I do know that they like their RPGs and don't like MS, so unless SE ports the games that are said to be MS exclusive (SO4, IU, etc ) then they are not going to sell in Japan, and from what I understand, Japanese developers like to sell in their homeland.

Not necessarily. They still have some left. They'll just rather spend it on KZ2 because they can't outbid M$

 

Sony is a bigger company which is worth billions more than Microsoft...they have money... how much money they use to fund the PS3 is a completely different story.

 

Um, NO. Microsoft is worth more, makes more money, and has enough pocket change laying around to put well over 50% down on a purchase of Sony.

People fail to understand just how bloody big and rich that company really is.

Not necessarily. They still have some left. They'll just rather spend it on KZ2 because they can't outbid M$

 

Sony is a bigger company which is worth billions more than Microsoft...they have money... how much money they use to fund the PS3 is a completely different story.

 

Sony is overall worth more, but has less cash than MS, that's their problem when they need to pay cash to, well, bribe.

Anyhow, the sum they needed to pay to get exclusive isn't certainly such that they couldn't afford it, if they didn't pay, they almost certainly chose to. As FF XIII main market is still exclusive to Sony, perhaps they weren't wrong, more, if something goes wrong with the XB360 conversion, Sony could be very right not preventing SE from doing it.

 

They aren't really worth more. Their market cap is severly lower then Microsofts and Nintendos. It might have more stuff... but it's worth less as it could theoretically be bought for less money then microsoft... or even Nintendo who is a much smaller company... but in reality worth more.  Things are only worth what people will pay for them.

As i thought... part of FF13 deal was getting back the IU name. (Or at least that's what it looks like to me.)

when i said they don't have money i ment the gameing devision is suffering ,, sony of course has money but they can't just spend it on the gaming devision ,, i think the TVs devision - or whatever the name- is the one that holding sony together right now

and for sure MS money > Sony money

Market Cap or the deal?

They said FF13 was put on 360 after their partnership changed. Which I assumed then was to get back the IU name and probably make it multiplatform.

Market Cap is how much stock price is times the number of outstanding shares. In otherwords since owning stock is owning the company Market capitlization is how much people think the company is worth... and how much it really is worth at the time.

For a comparison.. Market Cap

Sony: 37.8 Billion

Microsoft: 235.36 Billion.

Microsofts is a tiny bit higher...

Nintendo's is 65.4 Billion... which ain't bad for sony.  It used to be more then double.

Fist Full of Dollars or 8 - 9% stock ownership in the company (MS and Sony respectively), its a tough toss up considering Sony bailed them out after the disaster that was the CGI film Spirits Within but MS has given them buckets of cash for FFXIII and releasing Last Remnant first on X360 and having Infinite Undiscovery on the X360 BUT S-E hasn't actually said that is exclusive to X360 nor have they said SO4 is, so.... anything is possible and they will want better sales so they will most likely port them to PS3 considering S-E now owns the rights to Infinite Undiscovery apparently, someone on VG said it today.

but i remmber something about SO4 that they said they had no plans to develop it for ps3

when is it going to be released? if after a year , thing are going to be differnet and the ps3 sales are going to be better -i hope - then they may consider porting it to ps3
