Forums - Sales - Hardware sales in Japan for this week

Hmm, well I also think it has to do with the new Tales game coming out.

Of course it could just be that the 360 is making headway in the market. Mind you, those numbers are still FAR from impressive.

Wow DQ has really boosted the DS. If only Nintendo made a new model, then would sales grow again in Japan. I think they are waiting until it reaches saturation in other regions though.

At this point it's almost a matter of time before 360 starts outselling PS3 in Japan..unbelievable.

360 sold ~40% as much as PS3 this week (4k vs 10k) it's normally about 25% (3k vs 12k).

Won't happen for as long as this generation exists except Sony stops making ps3's

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

@Pristine20

You could be eating crow as early as next week --> ToV bundle release on 7 Aug.

And anyhow didnt 360 outsell PS3 for 1-2 weeks during BD release?

Well it happened once before.

http://www.vgchartz.com/japweekly.php?date=39390&console=&maker=&disp=Japanese+Name&boxartz=1

although statistically it was a draw.
Ace Combat released for 360 in this week, and it was also the week before a PS3 pricecut + New model/colour (white 40G) and Dynasty Warriors 6

This slow increase for the 360, weeks prior the release of 'Tales of Vesperia', is a good omen. It may prefigure a long bump over multiple months for the console (or a 'momentum') instead of a 2 weeks spike effect, like many 'BlockBusters' tend to have on hardware.
That or the US Army is currently on vacation in Japan.

Tears to Tiara's drop was expected, considering the 'nature' of the title. Still, it is performing pretty well, though I'm not really sure if it is financialy profitable for the developper/publisher. But being profitable may not be the main objective I think.

The DS is doing impressively strong. Still selling so much, after having sold 23 million unit, in such a short time, really is a feat.

And according to Famitsu, the lowest selling title in the top 30 is at 7,300 units. That means that Tales of Symphonia Wii, despite being out of the top 30, can very well still be above 6k. Only VGChartz will tell us.

It did for a week then fell back down.

But this looks like it could be sustained higher sales for a minute, not higher than the PS3 at 10k, but 360 selling at 7-8k per week after Tales hits is likely.

The slow increase means that there will be a bump, but higher sustained sales.
