Anybody that knows about the technical side of the DS, is there any real way to make a giant overworld 3D GTA on the DS's hardware without it turning into muddy garbage?

Personally I say they make it into a 2D with depth beat 'em up like Streets of Rage.

By the way, where is Chinatown supposed to be in relation to the GTA universe? I don't remember seeing a Chinatown in GTA IV, and that would be the most logical location would be to have it in Liberty City.

Because "Chinatown" in the name doesn't indicate an area smaller than other GTA game...

Actually, it does.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword didint sell shi..

Take my love, take my land..

I have no idea what its going to be but luckily sales speculation is my strong point haha.

Given GTA being a huge mainstream property and DS being the largest mainstream hardware alive right now... I'd say that's a mixture for success. Same thing with GH and Wii and soon after GH and DS. I mean because it's a little bit more of a mature game it might not sell as well as GTA IV but I think we can expect this game to go platinum.

Well every GTA that has had a name other than a number has been named after the area it takes place in, like San Andreas, Vice City and London. If it takes place in Liberty City, then fine. I just wonder why they would place it again in Liberty City right after IV was released. It's going to make the DS version absolutely embarassing in comparison. I also asked because Rockstar renames all the areas they rip off of and Chinatown is a real location in New York City. It just confused me a bit is all.

I don't like the direction of having the DS try and squeeze out a monster of a game like Grand Theft Auto in full blown 3D. It's already a pretty ugly franchise on PSP, as previously mentioned, and DS isn't anywhere near as popular. Maybe they can cartoon the models up like Ubisoft is doing with Prince of Persia DS.

Chinatown isn't exclusive to New York.  Many cities have "Chinatowns".

There's no way that it'd be 3-D.

The PSP could barely pull off 3-D on the gorgeous 4.3 inch screen, and graphics.

With DS graphics, and smaller screen, I don't know how it'd work.

omg...you are so right...man...

I guess me and you both forgot about the 2 FREAKING screens..thank you

it could actually work on both screens ^^

I understand that. The point was it's not a made up name but exists within our world, which goes against what GTA has done in the last 6 or so releases.

Might be first person instead of 3rd

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
