@Pristine20: I'm hoping this will be one of the last posts on this subject, so I'll just give you this link for you to enjoy:

companies show what they have in store for the near future at E3. Are you actually blaming me for making that assumption?
Also, EA's CEO sudden recognition of the wii as the market leader after the current turn of events speaks volumes. There's no denying that pandering to casuals is where the money is at this point in the gen. If you don't believe it, just look at nintendo's q1. Look forward to seeing more of it.

@Pristine20: So now it's about the "near future"? I thought we were talking about long-term market trends. Go see the thread about 2009 wii games (not many yet announced, which is understandable, but still valuable information).
I'm starting to agree with Zucas, your Jedi debating skills are very unpolished yet.

I still think the casual:hardcore title ratio is going to heavily favor the casual side but we'll see.

I stated "near future" as what E3 represents and I personally think it covers 2009 as well.

In a way, I agree. On the other hand, there is a real link between profits and long-term evolution of the market, so it's not that bad.

That just goes to show that you ignore important aspects of Nintendo's new strategy. They have clearly stated that they will rarely hype titles which are far from being released. I'm starting to have 2007 flashbacks here.

Genres that tend to be unoriginal.
JRPG
Action
FPS
Platform
Party
Music
oh, all of them.
You know why? Because people like knowing what they are getting into. THat is why in VG's sequels do better first week than originals a lot of time (many do better lifetime).
"Hardcore Gamers" (on the web, not real gamers) are the worst. If it's not brown with alien cyborg zombies for 360, brown with japanese themes for PS3, or a famous Nintendo IP for Wii than the "Hardcore" whine and whine until there mommies tell them it's time to get off the internet.
My example: Pikmin 1. When it was first announced, hardcore bitched and moaned. Today they are begging for a sequel.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
